Came down for a day trip from Alabang. The safari wasn't too difficult to find but we did have a GPS to help us. There was plenty of parking and the ticketing office is just by the car park. The toilets are behind the ticketing office. Once you have the tickets you head across the road to the park entrance. Once you enter the park you wait for your tour to start. There is a gift shop as well as tiger cages in the area to keep you entertained. You can also get a photo with a tiger here. The tour goes through the park and you get to see a variety of animals from throughout Asia and the world. There is a fair bit of walking but there are also some rides on the cart across the different areas of the park. It was interesting to learn that most of the buildings around are refurbished bunkers. The tiger experience was quite unique, being in a caged jeepney with tigers around. You have an option of doing the tiger feeding which seems to be a must to get the Tigers to get near the jeepney. Our ride was a bit short (don't really know why) since it seemed that the cart that went before us came back after us. They do have lions as well as tigers and there are options to get pictures with a cub. There is also have taxidermic animals but they look very amateurish. Be aware that the tiger and the lions are literally caged but most of the other animals seem to be in a more natural environment. There are plenty of pigs and piglets running around everywhere. It was an interesting experience but I was somehow expecting something a bit different, probably more time with tigers in the...
Read moreBooked this place in our supposed-to-be rest day in Subic. I used Klook and as usual, it is very convenient. I just showed them my voucher number and staff issued tickets to us. We were so pleased with the place. It is big, there are lots of animals of different varieties, and I think they are very well kept. We did not lose the opportunity to be photographed with the big white tiger and baby crocodile. Those are paid separately and price depends on photo size. There are lots of attractions inside that would appeal to all especially kids. Going from one place to another can involve a short walk or a ride in the train. There are souvenirs for sale in different areas so don't focus in just one area. Also, there was a bird show that I find enjoyable. Type of show depends on the time slot. Of course, worth mentioning is the close encounter with the tigers in the safari ride. Unfortunately, none in our group bought a bucket of chicken meat for feeding the tigers so they did not come near our jeep. A bucket is worth 200 pesos. So I suggest, if you want the tigers to come near your jeep, buy it. Maybe you could divide the amount among your group. If there are 4 groups in your jeep, each would shell out 50 pesos. I forgot to suggest it at that time. Anyway, I recommend this place. You will...
Read moreMy experience at the zoo was disappointing, particularly due to concerns about animal welfare. I observed instances of animal cruelty, such as taping the mouths of crocs for pictures, leaving them uncomfortable on tables for extended periods to cater to tourists. The practice of allowing kids to ride on the backs of tortoises also raised ethical questions. Even the safari driver acknowledged that tigers had lost their natural instincts to hunt or climb trees, relying on chickens fed by tourists.
To add to these issues, I witnessed a disturbing incident where a tourist was playing a cruel game of "chase the carrot on the stick" with the crocs. The person would pull the food away at the last minute before the crocs could swallow, causing them to stand up, lose balance, and body slam into other crocs. Shockingly, the staff didn't bat an eye and failed to intervene or reprimand the tourist for playing such a distressing game with the crocs. Their lack of response heightened my disappointment with the zoo's management and their commitment to animal welfare.
The entire visit felt like a scam, with additional charges at every turn. Fees were not transparently included in the entrance fee. Given these issues, I find it perplexing why this zoo receives...
