AMAZED BY THE NATURAL BEAUTY OF THE PLACE. THE ASSAULT GOING UP MIGHT BE VERY DIFFICULT AND TOO TIRING BUT IT IS WORTH IT REACHING THE SUMMIT. EXPECT THE SCENIC "CHOCOLATE HILLS OF THE NORTH", FRESHEST AND COOLEST AIR AND PICTURESQUE NATURAL LANDSCAPES. PERFECT FOR FIRST TIME HIKERS. TOUR GUIDES ARE VERY POLITE (LOOK FOR KUYA RICHARD - GRABE, ANG GALING MAKISAMA AT HINDI NANG-IIWAN, THE BEST TOUR GUIDE OF MOUNT 387). SAME WITH THE LOCALS, SOBRANG BAIT NILA, FROM THE COOKS OF THE CANTEEN AND THE ONES IN CHARGE OF THE COMFORT/SHOWER ROOM AND EVEN THE KIDS WHO ARE OFFERING REFRESHMENTS ALONG THE TRAIL.
AS TOLD BY OUR GUIDES, GOING UP DIFFICULTY LEVEL IS 3/9 WHILE THE TRAVERSE TRAIL IS 4/9. STILL WORTH IT BECAUSE YOU CAN REFRESH YOURSELF DIVING IN THE CLEAN WATERS OF ALOHA FALLS BEFORE HEADING BACK TO THE JUMP OFF SITE VIA MINI-TRUCK. YOU CAN ASK FOR PALUTO AND UNLI RICE IN THE CANTEEN AFTERWARDS.
GOING DOWN VIA TRAVERSE TRAIL MIGHT BE NOT THAT EASY AS YOU THINK IT WAS. ROCKY AND VERY STEEP SO BE EXTRA CAREFUL. WEAR APPROPRIATE GEAR AND 2L OF WATER, STAY HYDRATED TO AVOID...
Read moreAs a first timer, Hiking here is very good, there will be a briefing before the hike so that visitors will be familiar at the different trails and have told us that there were different difficulties per trail. The guides are friendly and coordinating and will assist visitors throughout the hike. The trail leads to the summit of Mount 387 with a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains around especially the Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges and gives a Chocolate Hills. You can stay and have a food break at the summit and the 'Lovers' Tree'. There will be a voluntary tree planting activity at the traverse. Going down will be a challenge, so having a good grip can be handy, gloves can also be useful. At the end, you will be greeted with the Aloha Falls which has a nice view. Finally, a truck ride to return to the Jump Off point which can...
Read moreWe had an overnight camping at the lover's tree campsite of Mt. 387. The weather is nice when we went there. The trail to the summit is quite easy, which makes Mt. 387 really perfect for beginners. It is mostly covered with trees, particularly at the start, but the latter part of the trail is a grassland. I loved the spectacular view at the summit, specially during the sunset.
There's a limited water source at the summit, mainly collected from the rain, so it would be better to bring enough drinking water with you.
We did a traverse instead of doing backtrail. The way down the falls is really steep, but there are ropes which can be used to help you descend safely. From the Aloha Falls, there are multiple river crossing along the trail to the pickup point for the monster truck ride, which took us back to...
