Taklong Island National Marine Reserve — Attraction in Nueva Valencia

It's a paradise that I hope will not be mismanaged, not only the water but the Mangrove forest in the area. We know how important it is for the ecosystem and human life so I hope it will continue to exist and be abundant.

From Iloilo port, we took a Roro ride, because we already hired a Van from Iloilo for 1 whole day tour around Guimaras, it's a convenient way of travelling around Guimaras, there were 7 people in our Van, so we can divide the cost of transportation among us. The schedule of Roro can be searched thru Google. If you will not stay for overnight, be sure to know the schedule of the ferry or Roro that leaves the Island bound for Iloilo. We were almost left behind.

Upon arriving at the port, the location of the boats ready for Island hopping is in Sitio Alman Sur, Brgy. La Paz, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras. Entrance fees are : 30.00 for Adult, 15.00 for Students and free entrance for PWD and Senior Citizens. The boat for Island hopping cost 1,500.00 that is already for 1 whole day. Floating cottage is 50.00

The restrooms in the floating cottage is basically for changing clothes, don't expect anything more than that unless they changed it. It's safer to do your restroom needs when the boat stop by an Island where you need to pay before proceeding to the other activities in your Island hopping. Aside from the floating cottage area, you will go around the Mangrove forest and an Island sandbar. Don't hesitate to swim, you can just go to a resort nearby on your way back to take a shower properly. If you saw reels or any pictures of people having complete good meals in the floating cottage, you have to know that it can only be done thru reservation at least a week ahead of your visit. The floating cottage only offers bottled water and some small snacks (tsitsirya) The best time to do this Island hopping is in the morning, if you cannot make 1 week reservation ahead, you can just leave before lunch and have your shower and lunch somewhere else, there are many good places to eat in Guimaras.

The one who first gave me the informations to make it possible for us to reach this place is Mr. Gange Jhonnys Entrina, he is the Park Maintenance Foreman at DENR Penro, Guimaras. He is in Messenger but be patient if he cannot answer you at once, since the signal in the Island sometimes can be unreliable.

I would love to go back someday and I hope this place will stay and even improve...
