Heritage church which was originally made of Bamboo and Nipa was reconstructed out of tribute collection from parishioners, it a standing edifice and evudence of Christianity and Spanish presence in this bay side municipality of Pakil in Laguna since the 8th century. This is he church of miraculous Our Lady of Sorrows ( Dolores) of Turumba, whose image was found by fishermen floating in the Laguna de Bay.
The feast is celebrated since then, known as the Turumba festival which is perhaps the longest celebration lasting 7 months. It was first celebrated in September 15, 1788.
There is an oral historical account that there was a image afloat the bay and only the women were able to carry it.

The art above the altar is stunning—it really shows the story of the church—and the relics inside add so much character. We lit a candle outside to set our intentions, and you can really feel the devotion from both locals and tourists. This church actually dates back to the 1600s and was completed in 1767, built in a Corinthian-Ionic style that gives it a unique charm, and it’s also home to the famous Our Lady of Sorrows of Turumba, tied to the longest religious festival in the country.
