The waterfalls are beautiful, the water is refreshing and clean and getting there is relatively cheap. You're welcome to bring snacks and drinks and enjoy the day with your friends. The cold water works as a nice beer cooler too.
Typical of less popular places around the Philippines, the surrounding area is not very developed. The dirt roads are still being paved and some less responsible visitors tend to leave a bit of trash around which hasn't been cleaned up. It's not so littered as to ruin the experience but it's still disappointing that people in general don't respect nature, their country or their fellow visitors enough to take care of their own mess.
If you're a foreigner like me, the tricycle drivers may try to rip you off. They may even try to rob you (just pick pocketing/searching your bags while you swim). Luckily I was with my local friends and didn't bring too many valuables with me.
The surrounding area is not very tourist friendly (it's not like going to Boracay). If your a local traveler, you can easily figure your way around but if you're not used to third world countries and are a foreign traveler, you may experience a few new things and run into some trouble. Just ask for help if you get lost or need anything as Filipino's are generally very friendly and will want to...
Read moreBalagbag falls when we got there around November 2017 is a perfect time to enjoy it. There are few tourist. The water is clean, the color is greenish blue. Multi-level falls means you have plenty of places to swim. There are water pockets where you can sit just like sitting in a Jacuzzi. Only P20 entrance fee that goes to the government for environmental fee is darn cheap.
You can jump from the second level to the ground level. It adds up to the fun! The place is forested. A 5 to 10 minute walk from the main road. No facilities, no whatsoever man made facilities. Only the Sari-Sari store on the entrance. The falls exits to the beach. At the time, water is freezing cold.
The down side here is there are only 3 make shift cottages w/c are full of mosquitos. We did not use them. Since it's a fresh water, we went back to our resort with wet clothes and did not bother changing...
Read moreBalagbag Falls is very accessible. The walk to reach it is easier compared to other falls I have already visited and it can easily be reached even by the elderly.
One very striking feature of Balagbag Falls is that it is composed of two cascading levels. It is not difficult to climb to the second level.
The falls' upper level has a shallow stream. Here, visitors can go under the cascading waters and have a relaxing "water massage". Just imagine the one of a kind experience underneath those downpour. On the other hand you can also go for cliff diving on the lower level of the falls and swim unlike in the upper level.
