These beautifully preserved traditional Ivatan stone houses offer a fascinating glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the region. The unique architecture, characterized by their sturdy stone walls and thatched roofs, reflects the ingenuity of the Ivatan people in adapting to their environment.

Walking through the village, you can truly appreciate the craftsmanship and history behind each house. The picturesque setting against the backdrop of stunning landscapes and the sea makes it a perfect spot for photography. It's a serene and charming place that immerses you in the local culture. One of the best places to go to in Batanes. Sabtang is just a few minutes away from Ivana, a municipality in the Mainland Batanes. Sabtang stone houses also offer a good vibe of peacefulness and serenity. Aside from that, you will also feel how it is like to be one of the Ivatans through renting their "farming clothes". For the males, it is called vakul. Native ivatans are also very accommodating and would offer you great experience while on the island of Sabtang. This is surely a one thing you should never miss while on your...

A trip to batanes won’t be complete without a trip to one of their islands - Sabtang. There are 2 choices for your trip... a day trip or an overnight, for both the tour will take you to the 6 Barangays that is along the coast and have lunch on the beach. There will be a lot of time to appreciate the stone houses and their means of living (fishing & farming).

For over night, there will be time for swimming on the beach. Not much tourist stay for the night so most likely you will have the beach all to yourselves...

24 Sep 2024. Just a few meters away from the shore, this village is definitely a place of culture that you visit if you come to Batanes. At the "entrance" you will be able to buy or rent traditional wear so you can further immerse yourself in Ivatan culture. It is unfortunate, however, that a lot of houses are in various states of disrepair. I hope one of the bigger houses get restored and turned to a museum of their culture.
