Dissappointing experienced at Lulugayan Falls
As tourists visiting from Tacloban, we were excited to see the beauty of Lulugayan Falls for the first time. We visited recently, on January 20, 2025. Despite the slightly rainy weather, we pushed through and made the long four-hour drive, hoping to relax and enjoy nature.
We were looking forward to a peaceful vacationāa break from our busy and toxic work in the city. However, upon arrival, we were immediately approached and informed that there was a ā±100 per person entrance fee. Wanting to comply, we paid the entrance fee right away before proceeding further.
Curious and unsure whether these fees were official or accurate especially since we were only planning to stay by the side of the falls we went to the house of the caretakers of Lulugayan Falls to ask for clarification. Instead of a proper explanation, this led to a heated argument, which added stress to what was meant to be a relaxing trip.
Still determined to make the most of our visit, we decided to stay and headed straight to the falls after paying the entrance fee. However, after just a few minutes at the site, we were approached again this time regarding a ā±300 per person tour guide fee. Despite not availing of any tour or assistance, we were told the fee applied even if we only stayed at the side of the falls. Wanting to avoid further conflict, we reluctantly paid this additional fee.
What added to our disappointment was the fact that we did not benefit from the tour guide service we were charged for. We were not guided or assisted in any way during our stay only asked to pay.
What made the entire experience worse was the unwelcoming treatment we received. Instead of feeling like guests, we felt scrutinized and criticized. After a long journey, this kind of treatment was truly disheartening.
Filipinos are known for their hospitality, but this experience contradicted that. Itās upsetting to see fellow Filipinos treating visitors especially those who travel from far away this way. Lulugayan Falls is undeniably a beautiful destination, but there is a clear need to improve how visitors are welcomed and handled.
To be clear, I donāt wish to harm the reputation of any tourist spot or local community. I only want to share our honest experience so future visitors are treated with more respect and that fair, transparent policies are implemented.

The place is so peaceful, medjo malayo Kasi siya sa mga Bahay Kaya all you will hear is just the falling and flowing waters, twittering birds and swaying leaves. No worries Naman they have a local tour guide to guide you there. One of a kind and a place to visit whenever you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery picturesque! Highly recommended! For now, they only cater day tour (until 5pm). But if you go there early it will be enough time to enjoy this beautiful falls. There are also room for rent (few minutes walk from the falls) and an on going hotel construction. The road going there is a little bit tricky. Make sure you follow the road map given by the municipal tourism. This will lead you to the new...
