A random and unexpected trip as we head of this famous Dakit Tree known in Bisaya.
Its circumference is almost 30-40 person all together. A varied terrain and roads awaits you as you go through this spectacular spot in Canlaon.
A different species of trees are also present, one of which is the Eucalyptus just before you arrived at the century old tree.
Can be accessed by motorcycles and cars. Easy to navigate in google maps. Around 3 kilometers is rough road expected but tolerable at least. A breath taking panoramic view of Mt. Canlaon tempts you to take a pose!
Whilst tucked in remote area, many are still enthusiastic to see this tree. Best time to come early or late in the afternoon.
There is also a refreshment cafe nearby. If you wish to manage for a while to take a snack or a break have some!
There is also food stalls and sari-sari stores. No entrance fee, but need to follow strict rule not to go inside the concrete fence to preserve the...
Read moreIt's nice they built fences around the tree. It is for the protection and care of one of the oldest trees in the Philippines. It is also my second time seeing this tree, that was in 1993. 2023, 30 years has a lot of changes, fences, and the owner seems to make the place attractive not just looking at the tree. They have a small eatery in the area, small sheds for people to rest, nice garden, although it isn't finished it could be beautiful scenery when it's completed. But, navigating to this place needs a skilled driver. Roads are too small, paved, and unpaved. A single-lane road where one automobile has to stay on the side just to pass the other one. The problem is if both cars are on the road with nothing to provide for the car to stay on the side--- backup is the solution. The experience is well-documented. I wouldn't be able to see this tree again. If you have the chance, visit this place. The tree by the way is over...
Read moreIf you know how to appreciate the beauty of nature, you'll be amazed by this gigantic tree. The people from the office told us it was 1300 years old or so; of course, it is not proven. The tree is now fenced to protect it from people who tried to cut the skin or peeled it to use something they believed. It is free to visit there, and you must register yourself. I can only hope they will continue protecting the tree. Also, I can see that the people in the area are slowly realizing how important trees are. I noticed trees in between rice fields. To get there, you'll have to drive the narrow, windy roads along small villages; some parts are not paved, and right before you reach your destination, there is a dirt road in between trees that can be romantic depending on how you see it. It is definitely worthwhile to visit for the nature...
