A Church That Rose from the Ashes

Would you believe that this cathedral has been burned down twice? First, in 1899, during the Philippine-American War, and then again in 1939. But each time, the people of San Fernando rebuilt it, stronger than before. The version we see today was restored after World War II and continues to stand as a symbol of faith and resilience.

A Blend of Old and New

From the outside, the cathedral has a simple yet elegant neoclassical design—clean lines, grand columns, and that iconic bell tower standing tall beside it. But step inside, and you’ll feel an instant sense of peace and awe. The high arched ceilings, beautiful stained-glass windows, and golden accents give it a warm and welcoming vibe.

A Place of History and Faith

This cathedral has seen generations of Kapampangans come through its doors. It has hosted countless baptisms, weddings, and religious celebrations, making it a key part of local life. It’s also where the Archbishop of Pampanga holds office, making it the spiritual heart of the province.

Why You Should Visit

If you love churches with rich history, stunning architecture, and a deep sense of community, this is a must-visit. Plus, after checking out the cathedral, you can explore the rest of San Fernando—famous for its delicious food and vibrant festivals like the Giant...

A magnificent structure done by D late Archt.Fernando Ocampo specially the main altar ( w/c was modernized by late Msgr.S.Ocampo) to have more space anyway. The ionic columns detailed together w/ 2 angeles holding the insignia of Mama Mary a Latin cross plan Everything even the church pews w/ coat of arms engrave on the sides, station of the cross curve in details Miss the old communion rail, side altar, chandeliers Oops the choir loft where we used to have the 5layer organ w/c d late Mr. Resurrection played d organ together w/ her daughter sang. It's really a place to Worship n lots of memories even the ordination of several...

Walking into the church feels like stepping back in time, a truly awesome experience. The architecture is stunning, with high ceilings and intricate details that immediately catch your eye. It's a place where you can find a sense of peace and quiet amidst the bustling city. The light streaming through the stained-glass windows creates a magical ambiance. The church's atmosphere is very welcoming, and you can feel the history within its walls. I love the feeling of community among the people. Whether you're religious or not, the church is a great place to visit. Overall, it is a must-see landmark when...

Beautiful and historic church, the only cathedral in Pampanga. Has several important relics including those of the true cross, Saint Ferdinand and blessed Virgin Mary. It was reconstructed in the 1930s by pioneer Filipino modern architect Fernando Hizon Ocampo. Survived the 1991 Pinatubo eruption and 1995 lahar flows. Was damaged in the April 2019 Pampanga quake but is currently being restored. seat of the Archdiocese of San Fernando, Pampanga
