Major Hike -- 8/9 Hardest trail that you'll climb here in South Cotabato! It's all assault once you decide to leave the Phase 1 Camp Site and commit to the grueling 2-3 hour climb. The trail is steep, heavily forested, moist and the mountain side has very thick undergrowth. What's even worse is the climb down, this is where you'll really comprehend how steep Matutum is. The only redeeming factor this mountain has is that it has the jungle for you to utilize -- roots, rocks, tree vines, tree trunks and the likes. You'll feel like a monkey while traversing the mountain side, as you'll experience the most raw and pure monkey trail in this region. The summit is meh, but the climb itself is extremely rewarding. Caution: Bring lots of water; around 3-4 liters. Dehydration is a concern, and you don't want to get dehydrated while you hike Mt. Matutum's trail. Happy Trails Everyone!!!

Met some new friends along the trail and the view on the summit was spectacular! Won’t recommend this for beginners tho. You’ll need both lower body and upper body strength to pull you up from Phase 1 to the summit bc the trail was considered a “monkey trail”. Trekking pole is of no use going up to the summit from Phase 1. Overall, it was a 5/5 experience. Would definitely comeback here to unwind.

Very nice view in the morning especially if really early to see the sunrise. Nice if you have car.. it's free to take pictures and behind is the Mt. Matutum. Nice for prenup pictorials and other fun activities. Near foodstand where you can buy pasalubong. Very nice with lots of friends to come by😍❤️
