Alright, let’s talk about Zamek Książąt Mazowieckich in Ciechanów. First off, this is medieval Poland at its finest—a big, hulking castle that looks like it was designed to keep out invaders and make you feel small at the same time. It’s a stunning piece of architecture, classic in every sense, with thick red-brick walls that have seen more history than you can imagine. You walk in and immediately feel like you’re stepping back into the Middle Ages, which, let’s be honest, probably smelled terrible, but luckily we don’t have to deal with that.

A bit of history for you: built in the 14th century by the Mazovian dukes, this place was meant to protect the region from whoever was trying to invade that week—Teutonic Knights, angry neighbors, you name it. It’s had its fair share of drama, including being damaged during the Swedish invasion in the 17th century. But like most things Polish, it’s still standing, a bit battered, but proud.

The location’s pretty spot-on too—right by the Wkra River, which probably made it easy to dump boiling oil on invaders or whatever medieval folks were into. It’s a solid day trip if you’re around Ciechanów, and the tickets? A real bargain. For about 15-20 PLN, you get to roam around the castle grounds and pretend you’re a duke or duchess for the day.

Now, here's the fun part: they’ve got a phone app. Yes, you heard me. A medieval castle with an app. Download it, and it acts as your personal guide, giving you all the facts and historical tidbits as you walk around. It’s like having a tour guide in your pocket, but without the awkward small talk.

In short, Zamek Książąt Mazowieckich is well worth a visit. It’s big, it’s old, and it’s full of history—and with that app, you might even learn something while...

Few years ago renovation of the castle started and I have to say it was done very well. New building with multimedia room is good for children and people that want to know more about the place and city. The yard is nothing special but it sometimes change to a nice amphitheater when there are organized concerts there. There is also an hour long trip through both remaining towers of the castle that allows you to hear about history of its residents, see the whole city from the top or enjoy the legends that...

My first ever visit in this castle and to my surprise it was really enjoyable, we had a guide that walked us though two of the towers and told the story of the castle and the town of Ciechanów, there were some kids in the group that seemed to be enjoying themselves, the guide made sure to keep them in focus. The tour took around one hour, the pricing was pretty low for the tour so not a wallet buster. Looking around there are visible works in progress in restoring this great piece of...

Miał on podobne przeznaczenie, miał służyć do schronienia ludności miasta.
