We spent 9.5 hours there! Although the water temperature is the same for every single pool, it is a pleasant 36 degrees. There are 2 areas as is usual in Europe. One area is clothed. One area is naked/textile free. You pay separately for the areas you want. There are 4 and 5 hour tickets and whole day tickets, with or without the sauna, ie, naked area. Whilst not as big as our favourite therme in Erding, Germany, u can definitely stay a whole day, if you like water jets, slides, saunas, salt grottos etc. No free face masks or alcohol free beer or ice lollies like in Erding therme either. There are restaurants on site. Note, no water tap except one in the naked area, upstairs in the relaxation area. You can't get in there unless you have paid with your electronic wristband. The lockers say outside food and drink is forbidden, which is pretty mean, considering the price of water and soft drinks in Poland. It's literally cheaper to drink beer in Poland, for the unitiated. We saw other people, and we brought our own drink bottles to refill. What we didn't see is people eating on the sun loungers, deck chairs etc, like you can in Germany, but we saw a few sneaky people eat near the lockers, a sandwich they had prepared earlier. So, after you pay, you get your wristband and you get told which colour locker area to go to. Press on the electronic sign and your number will flash up. This will be your locker for the duration of your stay. Every time you need to open it, press tour wristband to the black bit and your locker door will spring open. Then go through the separate ladies and men shower room, shower and meet on the other side again. Start enjoying! There is a unique jumping wave mini machine which we haven't seen before. You have to go to understand! After reading shocking reviews of cleanliness in Slovakian thermal pools, we are glad to report this one is very clean. The naked section is always cleaner as fewer people pay to use it. There are water beds and comfortable padded loungers in the naked section. You also get a free towel for the body and a small foot towel in the naked section. Drop it off afterwards or right at the end when you pay for your extras. Staff speak some English and are not moody and unfriendly, as some people have reported. We went on a weekday, no wait for a 11.45am arrival, but I imagine on the weekends a nightmare, or in high season. 3 slides, the queues are practically zero from 7pm, when the kids have left! The food in the naked restaurant was top and well priced! We had tagliatelle with fresh porcini mushrooms -38 zloty, 500ml beer 16 zloty and baked trout with pea puree 49 zloty. Everything you buy gets scanned to your wristband. You pay when you leave at the cash desk. If you haven't bought anything you head to the turn stiles, drop your wristband in and au revoir! Sorry no pictures! The website has pretty accurate pictures. 2 jacuzzi closed for maintenance in the naked section which was a shame.. because the pools in the naked section...
Read moreOn August 8th, my first visit to Chocholowskie Termy turned into a nightmare. My husband and I had bought tickets for full access, each ticket - 190zl. We headed straight to the sauna area to sunbathe on the terrace loungers. Shockingly, there were no signs warning us of any potential dangers, and within minutes of lying down on one of the loungers, I was painfully stung by a wasp in my stomach.
It was a terrifying surprise. I had simply been lying still with my eyes closed, enjoying the sun, when I was attacked. Looking around in panic thereafter, I noticed dozens of enraged wasps flying nearby. There were two homemade wasp traps placed under a tree between the loungers, poorly made from plastic bottles, which seemed to be completely ineffective as many wasps were still active and dangerous.
This incident was particularly severe as I am allergic to wasp stings and usually carry antihistamines and steroids with me, but I left them in my car not anticipating a need at the spa. The health facilities at Chocholowskie Termy were abysmally inadequate; they lacked a real first aid kit and had no professional medical staff on site. The only assistance offered by the lifeguard was a soluble diet supplement tablet with vitamin D, calcium carbonate, and herbs, which was absurd and inadequate for my allergic reaction.
My condition worsened, leading my husband to rush to our car for my emergency medication. Let me stress the dangerous lack of preparedness for such incidents: no professional medical personnel and insufficient first-aid resources. If I had suffered an anaphylactic shock, the situation could have been life-threatening.
I wasn’t able to use any saunas or warm pools after the incident. The response from the staff was underwhelming; they provided ice in a rubber glove and nothing more. No real action was taken to address the presence of wasps or to improve the situation.
Moreover, the staff prohibited taking phones to take pictures of the homemade traps on the terrace (which once again confirms, everyone is aware of the problem, yet no steps are taken to solve it).
We paid 190 zl per person, and for such a pricey ticket, it is unacceptable that proper wasp traps are not installed. Management and sauna zone managers need to take immediate action to ensure guest safety instead of assuming risks until a fatal incident occurs.
There were no apologies or compensation, and the staff seemed accustomed to this issue, which suggests a recurring problem.
Visit at your own risk, especially if you have allergies. This was far from the relaxing day we...
Read morePretty cool little place. They have a dedicated child are, but you’ll find kids all over except in the quiet area. The quiet area is for 18 and over and was very relaxing. Side note: they made a great whisky sour there too! The outdoor pools were very warm and crowded, but there was plenty of room to get around not be too bothered. The swim up bar was hard to find for some reason, it is downstairs.
The swim up bar has music, water dancing by some, a whirlpool that is a blast to get in and shoot around the circle. The drinks are mostly rum based, but you can get several liquors mixed with tonic (I.e. gin and tonic etc.).
The lockers are activated by your wrist band. Scan the band at the console in the lockers and it will tell you what locker number you are. Then go find that locker and scan again near your number, once that is done be very quick and apply light pressure to the edge of the locker and it pop open slightly. They are free with admission and large enough for shoes, a large backpack, towel, and even a coat and jewelry.
The changing rooms are decent size. As it was so crowded my wife and I shared one and it was large enough for that. However I am a size 32” waist and my wife is a size 6, so anything beyond that and you may need a changing room each. Yes we bumped each other a lot when changing lol.
The showers are good and have soap right next to each spigot. It’s push activated and lasts for about 20-40 seconds or so. Plenty of time to wash up each body part real quick before and after the experience. There are men’s and women’s toilets all over the place as well as smoking areas if you are a smoker.
All in all a pretty good experience. Great views of the mountains from the outdoor pools. I’m sure in the warmer months this place is even more fun! If you go there expect a crowd year round, but it is definitely with a visit. If we still had small children (we are empty nesters of 4 children) this would definitely be on the “tire them out while they are having fun list).
There are several restaurants and bars. They all looked decent but we didn’t try anything except the bar in the quiet area. We had no food, just the whiskey sours as mentioned, and they were approximately 38 Zloty each, which I figured was a fair price. Everything is charged to the wrist band and you simply cash out when leaving, then dump your wrist band in the slot by...
