There are several versions of the appearance of this “crooked forest”, one of them is that the pine forest was planted in 1930-34 by the Germans who inhabited these lands before the Second World War, and they also carried out some of their experiments.

According to the second version, the local breeder wanted to grow a forest where no one could get lost, so all the trees are turned to the north. However, until the end, he did not realize his plan, as the Second World War interfered. Perhaps these trees were intended for the production of sledges, just not far from here a sleigh factory operated at one time.

It is said that at the very beginning of the twentieth century, someone was experimenting with the production of "pre-curved" wood. Such wood should have been intended for shipbuilding or for the production of furniture.

There are versions that it was nature at some time with its strong winds that forced the pines to bend in this way, perhaps even breaking them at first, but then the trees still survived and began to stretch upwards towards the sun,...

Удивительный лес находится на западе Польши, недалеко от города Gryfino. На территории площадью около 1,7 га раскинулся сосновый бор с диковинными деревьями, не похожими на любые другие в мире. Название у этого леса такое же необычное - «Кривой лес»

Как так случилось, что деревья растут таким необычным образом, никто не знает…

Существует несколько версий появления этого «кривого леса», одна из них - сосновый лес был посажен в 1930-34 годах немцами, населявших эти земли до Второй мировой войны, они же и проводили какие-то свои эксперименты.

По второй версии - местный селекционер хотел вырастить лес, где никто бы не мог заблудиться, поэтому все деревья обернуты на север. Однако до конца он свой замысел так и не воплотил, так как помешала Вторая мировая война. Возможно, эти деревья предназначались для производства саней, просто недалеко отсюда в свое время действовала фабрика саней.

Говорят, что ещё в самом начале двадцатого столетия кем-то проводились эксперименты по производству «предварительно изогнутой» древесины. Такая древесина должна была предназначаться для кораблестроения или для производства мебели.

Есть версии, что это природа в какой-то период своими сильными ветрами заставила изогнуться сосны таким образом, возможно даже сначала сломав их, но потом деревья все же выжили и стали тянуться вверх к солнцу, создав дугу.

На данный момент проезжая недалеко от леса можно увидеть специальные знаки, информирующие людей о «кривом лесе», создано это для того, чтобы привлечь внимание туристов. Всего на территории насчитывается около 400 изогнутых сосен. «Кривому лесу» несколько лет назад даже присвоили статус памятника природы.
