It is very hard to know what's going on at this place. We had the Blucher room, which was supposed to be one of their best rooms (2nd only to the Napoleon's room). Our room was spacious, it had, however, some furniture that was clearly totally broken. The broken chair in our tower made the tower (a part of our apartment) totally unusable. The receptionist delivered a bottle of wine for us, which was a nice surprise. I also requested a kettle, which they delivered after some searching. The internet was horribly malfunctioning, which was very frustrating. Our part of the building had a clearly institutional feel to it, something like a high school. We tried to walk the grounds but unfortunately just a few meters from the building a large golf course begins and walking there is prohibited. The restaurant was pretty good but at some point more and more locals showed up to drink beer. The restaurant became a local joint and dozens of people were standing in the courtyard, talking loudly and smoking. We encountered real problems at breakfast, we went to the restaurant where encountered a very rude person who sent us to eat breakfast upstairs. We made our way upstairs (our room was upstairs already, so we actually went back upstairs), and we encountered a group listening to a lecture. Another staff person sent us back downstairs, back to the restaurant, to get our breakfast, where we actually finally got the breakfast (which was below average). This time the very rude person tried not to be rude. I would say that I do not recommend the "Palace", as they clearly have no idea what hospitality and good manners are. If you have money to spend for a nice weekend in a beautiful property, spend it...

That year when morning light pierced the gauze curtains on the second floor of the manor, the King of Prussia fell in love with her. The marshal who defeated Napoleon adored her too. Even the swallows playing beneath the colonnade praised her splendid dress.
But later, in the chaos and smoke of war, She had to shed all finery, tie on an apron, wash sheets, polish glasses— and at times, she was wrapped in the scent of hops.
That year, not long after brushing off the scent of the Soviets, the swallows of the old palace returned to the eaves, and jazz once again lingered in the corridors.
One casual visit was enough to stir up grand narratives, personal history— all swirled together in a cup of coffee.
At sunset, I suddenly remembered to hurry back to the dormitory where I was temporarily staying— turned on the stove, closed the lid, and tossed in the pork ribs I’d bought on discount at the supermarket yesterday.

Read moreWe spent 1 night in this hotel, only not in the main building, but next door. You can see that the hotel has been lovingly restored. Comfortable beds, everything is clean and nice. Dinner was good, with fish and meat and dumplings, portions not too big (not as usual in Poland).
Breakfast surprised us, of course. Salads in mayonnaise, eggs with mayonnaise, smoked meat. The coffee is powdered. We asked for normal coffee, but were pointed to a thermos of boiling water and a can of coffee. We insisted, another girl, who speaks English, came and after 15 minutes, managed to get a coffee machine to make coffee after all. Unfortunately the area around looks neglected. There's nowhere to walk, in 20 metres there's already a fence, abandoned buildings, a barn. I don't know if the golf club is active now, but it doesn't look like it, the grass is not knee-deep and no one is there. It's a shame, it's a beautiful and...
