We spent a week in Otmuchów and we stayed in a room somewhere in the town. It was the time when the heat wave hit Poland and sent temperatures into the high thirties, and if it hadn't been for the fan we wisely brought with us we wouldn't've managed. The room we stayed in was not particularly to our liking (it was furnished with no style at all, artificial flowers, cheap reproductions on walls etc.) but it was spacious, had a fully equipped kitchen and it was cheap. Generally, we liked the town and the neighbourhood so much that we decided to stay a day longer. We thought that this extra night we would treat ourselves to a bit of luxury by moving to the hotel. However, before moving we decided to do some recon and one afternoon we walked up the castle hill and asked the lady in the hotel front desk to show us around the hotel. After we had been shown all the room-types in the hotel we did not decide to move out from our room. Compared to what we saw, we started to appreciate the positive sides of it: peace and quiet (no other guests), price (one third of the price in Zamkowy for a double room), space (the room was huge compared to the claustrophobic space of the hotel rooms), and the kitchen. The only decent-looking and relatively fit for live-in were the two hotel suites, however the price was beyond what we were prepared to pay. Apart from the suites all the rooms were extremely small, with low ceiling, they were stuffy, and relatively uninviting. However, the staff we met during our 45 min long visit was very helpful, kind and friendly. All in all, a place with a huge potential if not for the obvious drawbacks - good for one, maximum two day stay, not for a...

Read moreIt's unusual because it's historical place. The hotel is situated in the old castle, which was built in medieval times and than was rebuilt in renaissance style. Now it's an interesting place for those who are looking for unique place to stay. The rooms are clean and spacious. Shower and toilet are clean but the bathroom is quite small. The staff is nice and helpful. In the castle there is no lift inside so I don't reccommand it for disabled person, also it can be also hard to go upstairs with heavy luggage. But you can feel there like an real knight! You can also visit a castle old rooms and a Tower, where is beautiful view. This is good place for stay for buisness (conference room) or make wedding or some workshops. In the neighbourhood there is a park and a beautiful Lake Otmuchow and the city centre with small shops, post office and few restaurants and old renaissance Town Hall and beautiful baroque Church of St. Nicolaus. The best season to stay there is summer and autumn when the leafs change...
