The castle is extensively renovated and looks beautiful on the approach. The exhibition's seem quite interesting.
However, the renovations look very modern and thus destroy the feel of the place a bit. But that's not why it loses stars. At the time we visited, only one of the three exhibitions was open and only one of the three areas included in the ticket were accessible. They also use reusable slipper covers which at this time felt icky and they also were way too slippery on the floor, an accident waiting to happen.
I am aware the closures were due to the pandemic situation, that's not my issue, my issue was that they charged full price for the most expensive all access ticket. No one we encountered even made an attempt to understand English or Russian and I think they just couldn't be asked to fuss and charged the highest price. Other than that I am impressed with how seriously they took the medical recommendations (masks, dezinfectant, counting how many people entered each room) but definitely avoid paying for the most expensive ticket, perhaps just enjoy the sights from the outside and...
Read moreThe castle was nice and the exhibitions too. But it's not well marked with how to walk through, so you're uncertain where to go next. And unfortunately a guide named Dorota, that was our guide, was very unpleasant and behaved like her presence there was a punishment, not a work. She was really mean and never have I ever had such a guide. It seemed she had a lot of knowledge about this place and could probably tell a lot of fascinating stuff, and the stuff she told was interesting, but it was limited and we could see the other guide to walk much more with his group and our group was finished with guiding before the other group despite the other group started 15 minutes earlier... I would suggest some improvements to the castle managers and they should definitely check their guides' attitude. We have other castles in southern Poland, e.g. in Pszczyna, that offer better experience for the same cost and by seeing other opinions about this place I'd recommend double checking if this is the place that you want to spend your...
Read moreThe castle is beautiful on the outside. However, upon our visit we were left disappointed. Firstly, the cashier was terribly rude. We asked her about different ticket options, which she explained so quickly we could barely understand anything. (Polish is our fifth foreign language so it takes us a bit longer to understand). No one speaks English (or any other language for that matter) despite that it's a tourist place. At the end, the cashier said we had to buy a ticket otherwise the castle will close (which is of course fine, but the rudeness was unacceptable). The castle museum is worthless. Only a couple of rooms are open (and the castle is huge). There are no clear directions. And the exibits itself are completely boring not worth the time. Furthermore, despite it closing at 5 (which is early in itself (the day lasts until 7.30pm, but ok)), they began shutting the rooms 45 minutes earlier. The employee at the souvenir shop was...
