Anta da Melriça — Attraction in Castelo de Vide

I visited this anta (Dolmen) in November, 2017 while on my bicycle tour of Portugal. I highly recommend seeing this anta! The location is off road M1007 which you turn onto from highway N246 and there is a sign for the turn to a lane going down to the anta. The lane is very narrow leading down to a gate on the right hand side into a field. Cross through the gate and the anta/dolmen sits in the middle...

Easy to access if you don't mind a short walk. It is signposted off the M1007 a few hundred meters from the N246. Walk down the lane until you reach the wooden gate on the right, then across the field to the dolmen. Look at the capstone and then ask yourself, how did they do that ? It has been here for a couple of thousand and will remain long after...

Ce dolmen aurait été construit 3000-4000 ans av. J-C. Il recèle donc une grande richesse historique. Voici les directives pour se rendre: 1- Depuis la route N246, engagez-vous sur la route M1007 2- Après environ 200m, tourner à droite sur un chemin asphalté étroit. Une pancarte indique « Anta da Malriça ». 3- Après environ 200m, une porte d’entrée se trouve sur votre droite et vous permet de vous engager sur un terrain privée (voir photos). Il faut laisser sa voiture sur le chemin pour poursuivre à pied. 4- Traverser le champ sur environ 350m jusqu’au dolmen. Le chemin n’était presque pas tappé lors de mon passage. Naviguez donc à vue si c’est votre cas également. Une clôture en métal freinera votre progression juste avant d’arriver à l’objectif. Une section de clôture plus basse vous permet de l’enjamber à environ 50m du mur de pierre sur votre gauche.
