A very well marked, informative, looked after and clean route in a beautiful natural landscape of waterfalls, mills, old wool factories and electric plant. The full linear walk is around 12 km along the Mondego river and valley, but there are two shorter family and reduced capacity versions of 2 km each. (See website) The full walk consists of mostly existing trails and paths, but also 6,7km wooden walkways (including plenty of stairs at the beginning and end of the walk - hard going up), crossing areas and at least 3 suspension bridges. The walk is open from Monday to Sunday 9am (09:00) to 5pm (17:00). We went on a Sunday at the beginning of November and paid 2,50 euros p/p on the website. Showing the QR code at the beginning and end of the walk. There's full mobile network coverage along the trail, but very little shade most of the time. So take a hat, comfortable shoes (I did the whole route in trainers) plenty of water and some snacks and food. (And please remember to take your rubbish with you, don't litter!) There's a café at Mizarela bridge and a lovely picnic area with toilets and swimming area at Porta de Vila Soeiro (where you can also begin or finish your walk to cut out all those steps at the Caldeirão dam). We started from Videmonte (where we parked), and found that most of the way was probably more downhill and easier, except for going uphill from just after the Mizarela bridge and the steps to the Caldeirão dam. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. An overall...

Paguei...

Picturesque 12km walk that has 50/50 boardwalk and dirt track. Apart from the fellow hikers full immersion in the nature. The last 1-2km for each side is a bit challenging, but the rest is fairly easy. We started from Videmonte, so until the last 2kms it was gentle downhill. Almost all the trail is open(no shade), so best times to visit is spring and autumn. Tickets easy to get on the website and it's 1€/person. Plenty of parking space in both ends (the one on Barragem side is little visible from the road so a bit more tricky to find). At the end of the trail there are taxis so no problem to get back to the other point. We paid 14€, and were lucky to find people to share the ride with. If you get tired already before the heavy climb, you can call taxi from ponte...

Great piece of engineering and amazing project. However, we planned to visit with two children in pushchairs to go to the accessible route. We went to the location linked on the website and when we arrived it wasn’t accessible and wasn’t the accessible part of the route. We only managed a short walk on part of the walkway before having to turn back. I’ve researched extensively since to work out where you are supposed to arrive and park if you are a wheelchair user but there doesn’t appear to be anywhere. I don’t speak any Portuguese so wasn’t able to ask the park rangers. Such a shame if I am correct in thinking there isn’t a full accessible route but no where to park or access it.
