i went to botanical garden by walking from town near the ferry terminal. It took about 30mins one way. i used Google map to get there, but there are 3 or so signs on the street which direction we should go. About 1/4 or so areas inside garden was under construction when i visited in early June in 2018. I dont know which season we have many bloomed flowers, but the time i visited, there are limited variety of flowers were bloomed. (= not a lot). Read moreGood place to spend an hour or two. The person who sold us the tickets was super friendly and gave us a short intro in great English and offered tasty herbal tea.
The garden itself is not huge and full of blossom but rather interesting if you want to see endemic Azorean plants of just a rather good looking one if you have time to spend walking.
Just don't expect wonders. Do expect basic niceness and few tiny pleasant details.
Totally worth the time (took us about an hour) and money (5€/adult, 2€/child)...
