Loved it. I'm not much of a rambler, but this is a very well preserved natural area with good access and well signposted to keep you on track. Interesting fact boards dotted along the trail telling you about the history, plants and animal life specific to the valley. There is a beautiful but derelict house at the entrance to the trail overlooking the valley which would make an amazing public building or restaurant if someone had the time, money, and vision. Picnic spot down by the water's edge in the cool shaded area, so worth taking a cold drink and a pack of sarnies. Longer trails for the more adventurous. Wheelchair...

Nice place to go for a change of scenery from all the Beaches. If you go in the Summer months take plenty of Water, the 'circuit' walk (which is well sign posted 👍) gets pretty hot 🔥🥵. Also, the river is very low at this time of year 😕 Don't follow Google Maps if you use the Waterfall/Steppingstone Bridge as it will try to direct you via a little dirt track that isn't designed for Cars🤦‍♂️ Go past this dirt track and you'll find a Car Park adjacent to the Road (there is also another Car Park past that one, just follow the dirt track to the left of...

Wow what a stunning views, Portugese wild nature at it's best. Some paths are rough and difficult to walk but that makes it even better. We were here in December, ideal temperature and no crowd, so that's an ideal period to enjoy the wonderful nature here. Like in lots of preserved parcs like this one the starting place / parking place is hard to find, placing some simple signs were to park will solve this problem. Along the path there are many plates with proper...

Given it is the Algarve, apart from the coastal areas, there are few nature walks but this is a nice one. We did it in the baking heat but still enjoyed it. The river was still flowing but was a little low. Dry in parts. Saw Swallowtail butterflies, Cleopatra's, and possibly a Spanish Festoon. A Sage skipper, many Long-tailed blue, Southern Gatekeeper, as well as Holly Blue, Speckled Wood, Meadow Brown and Small White butterflies.
