If I could give it 10 stars I would... This was my first beach in Portugal and one of the BEST beaches I've been to in a while

Outside the fact that it’s in an ultra exclusive and posh area in the Algarve (Quinta do Lago), I honestly felt this beach is a little underwhelming. Having spent a week coming from Sagres, Lagos, Alvor, Carvoeiro and Quinta do Lago, there are more beaches in the West Algarve worth seeing vs Praia do Ancao. I would actually vote for Praia do Carvalho for a smaller but ultra exclusive and very swimmable beach. Get a car and trek out here and you will certainly...

Outside toilets at nearby restaurant when open! Closed out of season. Earlier in the year very quiet. The board walk, more parasols, life guards! Floating raft and pedillos with slides. Car park now full...

What do you want from a beach; sand? check, sea? check, sun? check. Now, most beaches can check all those but can they check them in May and add the sense of it being your own cause there's hardly anyone there? I'm sure in peak season a little of the charm wears thin but in May, this is a little piece of heaven.

Love this beach. Lifeguards are typically hidden behind their wind/sunguards so keep a watchful eye on currents. But fabulous beach with great waves. If you're lucky enough to have a super low tide, you can easily find clams (sorry… love a bit of foraging!).

Good investment made building this wooden trail. Excellent for a morning, afternoon noon or sunset walk. Where wooden trail is absent the trail is also very good, compared to what was before. Definitely worth visiting and appreciate the view and trail.
