Played Sunday 18th May 2025
Mixed opinions of this as an experience. One thing is clear, this course has huge potential, and maybe once upon a time was in much better shape. New owners need to spend a couple of seasons investing.
No club house as others have mentioned. Burnt down Tent in place to store buggies. Snacks soft drinks and beer from a temporary unit put in place. Reception in a temporary unit. Toilets 1 male and female plumbed temp unit in place.
Service 4 star Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. Was given a snack bag with Apple, Oat bar and bottle of water for the round. Kept our luggage and travel bags safe in reception hut with them as we played our last round before heading to airport.
Tee boxes 3.5 star Mixed. Some in good shape, others not. Nothing was terrible, but remember this was €190 with shared buggy.
Fairways 3 star. Poor and patchy in areas, not good enough for the price. Again nothing horrific.
Greens 4.5 star Played true, in good shape. Likely around 10 speed. Free pitch repairers given out to assist help maintain.
Cart paths. 1 star Shocking, cobbled cart paths. Place you head covers back on after each shot! All need digging up and doing again.
Views 5 star Likely how this course made its name! Stunning as you move around the coastal holes.
Overall, we got around in about 4h30 mins. I'm glad to say that I have played this.
I would say, for €230 or so, the 40 extra it would have cost to play QDL north or south, would suggest this is overpriced.
€150 for buggy and round per person would be a fair algarve golf price.
With Vila Sol costing €120 PP with buggy, similar course condition played the day before, without the views, 150 would be fairer.
4 star overall, beautiful views, great greens, really narrow and open to make you think hole to hole, with a lovely 18th hole over water to finish and...
Read moreThis was disappointing. San Lorenzo quality of tees, fairways and greens not up to scratch and dont warrant the £165 green fee charged. A world of difference in quality compared to the Quinta courses and Vale do Lobo. Great shame as holes are a real test of golf but course is looking tired and somewhat unloved. I hired two sets of clubs and called in advance to let the club know. The clubs hadn’t been cleaned, clubs didn’t match, some irons had steel shafts and some graphite. See the bag attached on one set we hired - tatty. Difficult not to compare at other local clubs who hire you new sets of Burners or Pings. San Lorenzo really needs to up its game or it will lose its loyal customers which would be a great shame as this course over the years has always been on the list to...
Read morePlayed here last week. No sign of the clubhouse being rebuilt anytime soon therefore booking desk/minimal pro shop, drinks and toilets all being run out of portacabins.
The pathways for the buggys are in a very poor state of disrepair, the least they could do given how much a round cost, would be to sort out the buggy paths that actually shatter your teeth! There was also no sign of a drinks cart around the course which is pretty poor considering the heat, Vale Do Lobo had many passing through. Having said that, the course is very well designed and challenging. The greens are in great shape (better than Vale do Lobo) and the fairways superb.
Just poorly managed and looked after off the course which let's itself down and then struggle to justify the cost...
