Palácio do Correio-Mor is an imposing Baroque-era residence, consisting of a courtyard leading to a staircase and a building decorated in azulejos. The first floor is taken up by agricultural dependencies: a wine cellar, stables, and a kitchen decorated in azulejo tile (showing an undetermined figure, meat and fish). Access to the "noble's entrance" (on the second floor) occurred by way of a central staircase from the courtyard.
The chapel is a rectangular structure, with walls in stucco, and a framed ceiling. Currently is closed for reconstruction.
To the rear of the central body is a garden, with a fountain and a few statutes.

The wedding we attended utilized the entire grounds and palace - walking through the gate into the courtyard was breathtaking with a string quartet playing to welcome us. We then ascended the stairs into the palace - the rooms were each historically mesmerizing and every single detail was artwork to behold. The doors to the gardens lead you to a hedge maze with garden seating and statues…and lead you into the reception tent area. Everything about this place is so thoughtfully cared for - it’s setting in the valley of hills with a vineyard just add to the magic. I wish I could make up some event to hold here, it is just too good not to share with people...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of attending a wedding at the Palace of Correio Mor, and it was a delightful event. While we were unfortunately not allowed to see the interior, the garden truly impressed us with its beauty. The building's architecture is amazing, although it did show some signs of wear and tear. Being conveniently close to Lisbon is a definite plus. Overall, it was a lovely experience, but we wish we could have explored more of...
