Canais do Guadiana — Attraction in Mértola

From the road signposting Corte Pequena it is a 5km drive over an uneven dirt track. We covered most of it in 2nd/3rd gear, at 20-25 km/h. We parked at the village and walked 30 minutes down to the water, but it can be driven if you are willing to navigate the, at times, steep, single track. A local dog welcomed us at the village and walked all the way down with us!

Local lindo, calmo com beleza natual. Criado antigamente para facilitar a pescar, ainda se consegue ver vestígios do antigo moinho, se bem que foi quase todo desmantelado. Acesso por terra batida, estrada muito estreita nos últimos metros, (rezar para não se cruzar com ninguém) com alguma inclinação. Mas conseguimos ir com um carro 'normal'. Bom local para dar uns mergulhos, incluindo com crianças (ter atenção às correntes fortes junto a zona do moinho, e aos fundoes após a tapada. Se levar '' sapatos de peixe aranha" torna-se mais confortável entrar e sair de água, o leito é formado por seixos arredondos e conchas....
