We walked a short section of the trail today (mid-February). In retrospect, we discovered that we walked from the starting point back towards Pena Quebrada Falls, which is point number 13 on the circular trail.
At the starting point, there are two wooden signs displaying the names of two other trails, which, upon closer inspection, apparently no longer exist and have been replaced by the current trail.
We parked right next to the starting point on the side of the road.
From the starting point back to point number 13 (the waterfalls), it took about 3 km, which took us 1:52 hours. When we reached the waterfalls we decided to go up the main road on the trail marked with an X (X indicates that it is not part of the route itself, but that does not mean that it is forbidden to go there). Within 500 meters, we reached the main road. From there, we walked back to the starting point for about 15 minutes along the road.
The route we did was a bit challenging. We were 3 guys in their 30s, and one of us was pregnant, so it was relatively easy for us. Adults would not have coped because we had to walk over rocks in the water, under huge logs, and sometimes on a slightly steep descent.
Overall, most of the route was under the shade of the forest and included many small waterfalls and walking along the stream. You can stop for a picnic right along the entire route. (No...
