What a national treasure! We took the BerlengasTur boat to the island and had a very positive experience. It was a large boat with plenty of seats with great views. Both departures (to/from) were right on schedule and the young lady who discussed sights going and coming spoke very good English (as well as Portuguese, Spanish, French and Italian!) The island itself involved quite a bit of climbing. Since we did not purchase the excursion tickets we walked to the fort instead of being transported by boat. If steps are any type of a challenge, I do NOT recommend trying to walk to the fort as the steps descending to the fort are quite uneven and very steep. Once you arrive, the work is worth the effort. The views are breathtaking looking down onto the fort (with Peniche in...

I loved this place, it's relaxing and 😍 beautiful. Nature at its best. The little beach is amazing the water is very cold, yet because it is protected from the wind it's not uncomfortable. Need to go again😍. The amenities and services are basic. There are two "beach bars" not on the beach but close enough, one set of toilets. There is the beach and nature trails. If you are looking for luxury and comfort this isn't for you. To get there you have to pre book tickets and keep to your time slot. One of the trails takes you to the fort of John the baptist, an old monestery fort. But the walk is not for the weak it's a tough climb in both directions. But the experience is...

Loverly day trip out of Peniche. We took the slow boat, relaxing, with loads of photo opportunity in both durections. A truly unique and special place steeped in history from the initial Roman occupation from 1BC through monastic times, Portuguese conquest, British use during the Napoleonic wars and its present status as a conservation point. A bit of advice though, shade is almost none existent on sunny days. Fabulous beach and good food in both the fort and harbour. Use the glass bottom boats to get to the fort unless you enjoy a pleasant walk over a slightly large...

Beautiful Natural Reserve. Great hiking, snorkeling and diving. The water is cold and the island has a limit on the number of people who can visit each day. There is one resturant (cash only) and a cafe on the largest part of the island. You might want to consider bringing your own food and water. The beach area is small, but adequate. The seagulls are very aggressive if you have food and are sitting on the beach. The Fortress and caves are fun to explore, and you can opt to take a glass bottom boat ride or kayak. Definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely stunning place that truly deserves your attention! The island amazes with its wild nature, crystal-clear water, and the feeling of total harmony with the surroundings. Even though I managed to explore the entire island, I can’t wait to come back again, for that unique atmosphere and peaceful vibe. It’s a place that leaves you inspired and refreshed. I’ll definitely be recommending Ilha das Berlengas to my friends and everyone I know, it’s a destination you should experience at least once in your life
