Review of today's lunch @ this lovely Island
We've Ordered Black angus Steak with fries for 19 Euros First serve was cold (Fries&Steak) Had to send it back to kitchen where it was put in oven for a minute and re-served . Not the famously Angus taste. They've put a mix of red pepper's (out of the glass) and garlic on the top of the steak which probably ruins the remaining taste of this poor piece meat full of craves and fat. Didn't eat it... Looks like that this place is just not the best place to enjoy well prepared beef dishes . Not recommended!
Shrimp in garlic oil 13,50 Euros Was served hot First impression was ok (everyone can do that dish) but we already recognised a huge amount of coriander which covered all the shrimps and of course dominated the entire taste. Unfortunately not recommended.
After I complained about the Angus and send it back to kitchen the second time the Lady who owns the "Restaurant" offers me to show me an invoice of the Angus Steak as she thought i won't believe it's Angus. But every critics i mentioned was rejected by her with the words: " we have no time, aot to do" ....so what? I've ask what kind of apology is that? And i left... her offered coffee or sweets was refused by us and we paid the full bill and left to peniche where we find a huge choice of restaurants with an excellent Menü.
Next weekend i will try the seafood Menü there. If i have to face the same bad experience this time i am not going to pay for it. One important thing 4 Stars for the waiter's as they've done a...
Read moreWe spent the day in Berlenga and this restaurant is definitely the best on the island! Forget the packed lunch and indulge in local, fresh food.
I say that not because it's the only restaurant on the island but because it really is good. For starters: there's a good selection of foods and drinks on the menu. What's even better is that the food is really good. I was worried it's a tourist trap being the only restaurant but the food was up to scratch and comparable to any other good restaurant in Lisbon.
We had the fish stew for sharing between 2 people. We couldn't finish it and I guess even 4 people would have been full at the end. Starters (battered and fried sardines) and dessert (a pear stewed in wine) were equally good.
Most importantly: the staff were super friendly and looked after us really well. When we returned in the afternoon waiting for the ferry back to the mainland, they remembered us despite there being up to 550 tourists on the island every day.
Overall, I wouldn't know what could...
Read moreDue to being the only restaurant on the island, the food isn't that great as they have no competition. Prices are also on expensive for what they are. Most staff are friendly (usually wearing black uniform) but except attitude from the rest of the staff. Good view from the outside seating and we had some grilled fish but they came a bit raw (blood on the gut and backbone). Lady shredded the rest of the fish when we asked her to please put it back on the grill for a bit more and then we had to wait for them to grill it from the start. The whole group finished their meal while two of us were still waiting for our order to be...
