Nice hike generally in a peacefull area. Plenty of parking space around 12.00 and very few people on the road. Luckily didn't rain a lot making the roads easy accesible. But can imagine with rain, not a good road.
Good things: Quiet Beautifull scenery Good parking Good combination with Fanal park
Minor: Not many viewpoints Roads not great if it rained The way back has about 2.5km on asphalt road (which isnt without danger due to cars) - but shortcuts with hiking app are possible The stairs climb if you do it the opposite road. Its about 20 minimum at least steep stairs up. As an untrained hiker, that was quiet a challenge.
Totally took us 3.15 including a climb (which isnt on the menu with straight pr14) on...
Read moreVery easy and beautiful walk with lots of stairs at the beginning. I would recommend checking the weather report beforehand because the path is quite muddy and some parts could be flooded after heavy rainfall. You could follow the mountain bike trail back to Fanal. It's better and nicer than walking along the road. There's a crossing path near the end. It's not hard to find. If you follow the red and white markers, you'll end up in a picnic area. The path continues at the corner to your right. Don't follow the big road on the right side. The path ends directly at the...
Read moreI arrived at fanal forest around 4pm, plenty of parking available. Since I didn’t want to walk back to my car from the end of the trail I did an out-and-back and went back after 3-3.5km. The way back up with all the steps was a bit challenging. The waterfalls were nice, but the highlight for me was a viewpoint a bit further along the path, on your left you can go up a set of stairs and you get to this amazing viewpoint that is stunning on a cloudy day! Also not busy at all, I think I encountered 10 people during the...
