Interesting rock formation great for some photos and highly recommended if you are in a 4x4...not sure I would risk it in a normal car and unless interested in geology not sure it would be worth walking to....it is poorly signposted yet thought of enough to illuminate at night. Follow signs for golf course keep left then continue on dirt track when the good road heads of to the right on its way to the golf course. Follow the dirt track and after a sharpish turn to the left you will see the usual grapevine miradouro fence ahead which marks...

We walked from our hotel at the coast but there is a road right up to the organ pipe itself although the terrain looks a bit challenging without a 4WD. We went right after the rain so there was nobody and we had the whole place to ourselves, which was nice as it’s really not a big area and definitely won’t be fun with lots of people. The organ pipe itself looks pretty magical but was actually a lot smaller than I...

This remarkable basalt formation is of a similar nature to the Giant's Causeway in County Antrim. It is the exposed chimney of a volcano, revealed by millions of years of erosion, which has been exposed to water while molten. It is best to come here for photographs in the afternoon, when the sun's rays hit it. I walked here during my holiday and then returned a few days later on a 4x4...

Really nice geologic site with the „pipes“ perfectly presented like in a church. It is possible to go up by car; or by bike, or hike. It’s very steep at some point but not too far from the main road. View is okay but if you have time and the physical condition to take a longer hike, you definitely should go up the mountain nearby, Pico da Ana Ferreira. Ist’s totally worth it, too!
