So... This place is tricky to find... I tried to post pictures of the way up there and where to find it. Go up as the other have said across from the T bus station line and bus pickup across from the red house.. You'll see a steep driveway looking road.. You'll then pass gardens till you see a Levada go under the road to the right hand side with a very steep road with steps in the middle... Keep taking that up that path. You will curve to the left.. And see an overlook at the end of the road with a yellow house on the right hand side with the number 10 on it. Just to the RIGHT of that house, you'll see stairs leading up to thier house and then keep going up behind it. Take those stairs up till you get to the Levada. Once you get to the Levada.. Take a LEFT (upstream).. And walk along the Levada till you get to the beautiful waterfall.... Be careful as it does have a very narrow footpath..... There is another Google Maps location called 'Start of Agua d'Alto Waterfall" nearby... Go to that point for the true start of this hike. This pin is for the waterfall itself, which is deep...
Read morethe path is infornt of our BNB where we stay. its take us almost 3hr for up and down. the road is very narrow and slope so you have to be very careful but when you reached in your point it's definitely worth it. there is just few water in waterfall but beautiful natural swimming pool too. And one the way you can see another big waterfall too but there's no way to go there so you can enjoy just to see by far. And don't forget to carry raincoat. Because weather in madeira you can not predict. As we return it was raining.Thanks God we had our raincoat and we made it safe journey. i recommend to...

there isn’t any parking space, we parked just after the bus stop
It’s in my top3 in madeira. Literally no one was there, the waterfall is huge and beautiful. There was also a rainbow. We visited in the morning around 9-10.
Although I would not recommend to someone with serious vertigo, sometimes the levada path is 2-3 shoes wide without any safety bar/fence. It was okayish with mild vertigo, but had to slow down couple of times.
