To Go or Not To Go: Go! Caveat: this review only applies to the self guided tour that they allow you to do through their vineyard. We took a driver from Quinta de Pacheca where we were staying- it took about twenty minutes. I had read some reviews that were quite discouraging of coming here due to the “dangerous” ride over. The ride is your typical turns and narrow roads of the area so do not let that stop you from heading over. Once we reached the Quinta at about 3pm we waited in line a few minutes to get the audio guide they hand you (other people were also patiently waiting for service). I do think that they are understaffed. The young man helping us was trying his best but was overwhelmed trying to hand out audio guides and then explain the process and setting/breaking down tables for tastings. We followed the audio guide it’s only about 25 minutes long. It’s an easy walk the only steep part is a small hill at the beginning. The audio guide is quite dry but informative. The best part is that you actually get to walk amongst the vineyards on the side of a mountain overlooking the river!!! Absolutely priceless. Repeat: Absolutely priceless!!! Definitely get yourself here and have some of the best 25 minutes...
Read moreSuch a bad experience! Tourist place, avoid it ! The guy who deals with the tourists is only interested in big tourists groups because it means more cash. If you come on your own or with 1 or 2 people, you should definitely go somewhere else. We came with a friend today, hoping to do a wine tasting and a visit... the guy who "welcomed" us was completely rude and stressed. He kept saying "wait 5 minutes, wait 5 minutes!", with no other explainations... we actually never understood why we had to wait (visit ? tasting ? Other reason ?). No communication possible at all. We tried to ask him nicely if the experience was including a guided tour thought, but he never aswered. We even tried to buy little bottles of porto for gift before leaving after 30 minutes waiting. Even for that, we got a "wait 5 minutes !". So rude. This person shouldn'nt work in tourism. If you cant assume too many customers, hire more skilled staff and if there are too many people to deal with, just tell them the truth, that you won't be able to serve them. So they can go somewhere else instead of waiting for nothing. We went to another place in Lamego instead, where the lady was lovely and skilled. She saved our afternoon in the...
Read moreAwful experience in Quinta do Panascal today:
We rang in the morning to see if it's possible to do a tour and were told that there would be no problem doing a self guided tour etc. but there was no space for full tours, which was no problem as we wanted to do the self guided. Asked if they closed at any time for lunch and we were told we could come whenever we want as they did not close for lunch.
Arrived there around 11:40 and went to the main area and into the reception. The two workers walked past us for around 10 minutes, completely ignored us, not even acknowledging we were there. When my wife approached the man she was told to talk to the woman, who simply kept her head down and said "wait". We stood for another 5-10 minutes, nobody said a word, so we took ourselves to another vineyard for a far better experience.
Will never spend money on that level of customer service, would avoid at all costs and go to a place that values it's customers. I rarely write reviews but this place was just so bad I couldn't not...
