Stretching around six kilomètres, this Aqueduct was constructed from the later 16th to the earlier 17th centuries for the purpose of supplying water to the Convent of Christ in Tomar. Meandering in the Pegoes Valley, it looks quite impressive from certain angles. While there are other very beautiful Aqueducts in Portugal, however I still consider this one is worth a visit because it is easy accessible when you visit the Famous Convent of Christ which is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Two photos. By the way, there are quite a lot of Aqueducts in Portugal-- One in Lisbon, which you can see from the left side of plane when approaching the airport; One in Obido, which is located right in front of Entrance to the town; One in Elvas, which is most impressive in my opinion, nevertheless I haven't been...

It was very exciting to walk across the top of the aquaduct.

The trail is plenty wide & there is a small stone wall between you and certain demise, most of the way (the last strech has no wall so be brave & mindful).

As a note, that gate at the end is not locked so rest assured you need not turn around. Although the hike down the hill & through the thorns was a lot worse than just walking back across.

If you enjoyed this sight, then you will also enjoy the Lisbon Museum of Water' aquaduct walk (read about the connection to Portugal's only serial killer before you visit, for added...

Sem palavras. Local brutalmente lindo.
