Praia do Areão — Attraction in Vagos

A slice of the past that always welcomes me back. I love this place because it's part of my home town. Yeah, the sea is rough and the waves dangerous, the sand a mix of stones, shells and sometimes fish guts from the fisherman that brought in a good catch but the smell, the view, the feel of the breeze on your face on a hot day, those are the things that I remember and look forward to when I come back home. The place is not as crowded as Mira or Vagueira, as there isn't much in the way of amenities. Although a new little shack with icecreams and rather dubious artisan beers are there. Those beers are...the word is selective..meaning your palate may select or reject. Back to the beach, go mid morning or early afternoon to be able to get a good kid free spot...unless you have kids, then I feel for you. And enjoy a Bola de Berlin, basically sugar donuts in ball format with a custards...

Hugh and Long Beach on the south coast of Portugal, about a hour to the south of Porto.

Dogs are not allowed in the high season, but by end of September there is nearly no one on the beach and you can go with the dog without issues.

Enough parking spaces.

Directly on the Atlantic Ocean you have to be careful in the water because of high waves.

The beach is inviting for a long long walk on it for miles and miles.

Before the the beach entry there is a small camping space close to the ALMA...

Naturaleza pura, viva, limpia y cómoda!. Yendo desde la localidad de Vagos se atraviesa un bosque frondoso de pinos salvajes (muy tupido), son unos 10 minutos en coche. En la playa hay un amplio parking público y gratuito. Duchas y baños limpios en el acceso a la playa, escaleras de madera para subir la duna y acceder a la playa, donde hay un banco de arena muy ancho antes de llegar al mar. Es una playa salvaje (sin chiringuitos ni servicios), no masificada, una maravilla!. Debes tener en cuenta: suele haber olas, no adecuada para niños que no estén acompañados de adultos, suele haber viento (una constante en la zona), el agua es un poco fría, para activar la circulación!. En la entrada a la playa, antes de acceder a la zona de parking hay un café/bar muy bien montado, tipo "lounge", muy recomendable, con zona...
