A very picturesque place! On the one hand, the ocean, on the other, a majestic waterfall, at the foot of which ducks live) Getting to it is not difficult for both, hikers and travelers by car. But!!!! It is important to know that it is better to visit this place during the rainy seasons! Then you will be able to capture a full-flowing stream! Namely from October to December, and in the spring from April to June. I was not lucky and managed to see...

I love this place. In 2023 the falls were absolutely incredible to view but it had rained for days beforehand. This time, June 2024 it is barely a trickle but still magnificent. It is the highest falls in the Azores. If you visit wait until after the rains but be careful with your footing. It’s a peaceful place to watch the ducks and see the birds soaring around the rocks. Early morning...

This steep waterfall isn't hard to find at the end of the road in Maia: just look for the large group of ducks that like to congregate at the base of the waterfall and river! On the site is also the famous Lagar de Diogo Santos Faleiro, a primitive wine press used to produce barrels of wine hewn from stone of the riverbanks rocks! A mix of natural beauty...

Not a lot of water in August but still impressive in height, wilderness and sweet combined sounds of wind and running water. The rugged volcanic landscape (could be used to film the next Jurassic Park sequel) contrasts with the calm duck pool close to the ocean where exotic birds swim without a care in the world. Idyllic location no matter how you look at it.
