Bear Watching — Attraction in Bixad

Two weeks prior to the visit, I was told that meeting time would be 6:30pm, two days prior to the visit, it was changed to 6:00pm. The day prior to the visit, the guide and I were messaging and there was miscommunication on the time. I ended up showing up at 5:45pm, but the updated meeting time was 5:30pm. The guide was unresponsive so I found on google the coordinates of the hide. I arrived at the hide at 6:10pm, the guide wasn’t responsive.

There were other visitors talking out loud inside the hide (from one corner to the other corner), which spooked the bear. The bear left at 6:35-6:40pm and we walked out back to the vehicles.

The glass inside the hide is not fully transparent, there is a reflection when the door is open (when the door is closed it gets hot and humid as there are many people). The glass was also dirty so make sure to clean it to avoid spots in the photos.

I think the price is fair if the service meets the standard. Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy my visit due to the items mentioned above. Try your luck driving around lake saint anne and there are bears next to the road. If you get to see one, then this visit...

Please be aware that these people are anything but nature or wildlife conservationists. They are irresponsible business people who care about nothing other than profit, likes and popularity, at the cost of spreading false and dangerous information about bears. Their latest achievement is promoting the photos of a Russian (of course) photographer hugging bears to show the “harmony between people and bear”. It is sheer stupidity and if you genuinely care about nature, bears and other wildlife species, please stay away from them; there are others capable of offering true and unharmful wildlife experiences that respect both humans...

Very disappointing. We had to wait at the gate till the guy went up the path to feed the bears. On the way there he asked us to walk very slowly and not to talk but he was just acting. When we got to the hut there was a bear munching corn for a few minutes but then it walked away and there was no sign of another bear... The activity started 10 min later and finished 40 minutes earlier. On the way back there was no need to walk slowly nor to keep quiet.
