i will write this review in english, so anyone can understand. Despite the fact some of the reviews were really negative we took our chances and visited the interior of the building. When we were waiting in the hallway we heard some english/spanish tourist being very disappointed that the tours are in Romanian. Well, YOU ARE IN ROMANIA!!! Ive seen a lot of countries in Europe and never found a romanian guided tour in a museum!!!! And as i have seen after the tour start our guide explained those who are not speaking romanian that they have a QR code with translation in few languages. So, no excuses for the lack of information. Ok, you may be an analphabet, but i believe you can still listen an audio file. Then, one of the things i didnt liked was the presence of few children under 5 years old wich were very noisy, but they calm down in few minutes. To be honest, the presence of a 3 year old child in a museum is useless, but neah! maybe he will grow up apreciating art and history. Speaking about the history, the inside of the castle is only about OUR history and art. Is nothing there to be connected with a s*ty movie that makes women in their 50s to dress like a teenage girl...BTW, lady, you were horrendous. The castles story was fascinating, 114 years of pure romanian history. And the exibition dedicated to the Roman Empire was nice, but that`s all. You can do better in matter of exhibitions. Overall, worth paying a visit, the view from the balcony is stunning, the coffe great and the guided...
Read moreVisiting Cantacuzino Castle in Busteni, was nothing short of magical. The moment you approach this architectural masterpiece, you're struck by its majestic presence and the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding Carpathian Mountains.
The castle itself is an exquisite blend of Neo-Romanian style with intricate details that reflect the grandeur of early 20th-century design. The interiors are equally impressive, with elegant rooms adorned with period furniture, stunning frescoes, and intricate woodwork that transport you back in time.
One of the highlights of the visit was the serene and beautifully landscaped garden. Walking through the lush pathways, admiring the tranquil fountains, and taking in the panoramic views of the Bucegi Mountains was truly a rejuvenating experience. The atmosphere is peaceful, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The guided tour was informative and engaging, offering fascinating insights into the castle's rich history and the Cantacuzino family's legacy. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate, which made the experience even more memorable.
Moreover, the castle hosts various art exhibitions and cultural events, adding a modern touch to this historical gem. The on-site café offers delightful refreshments with a view that complements the overall charm of the place.
Cantacuzino Castle is a must-visit for history enthusiasts, architecture lovers, and anyone looking to experience the enchanting beauty of Romania. I can't...
Read moreNot very well known, but you can book the former "Hunter's Lodge" villa of the castle recently (2018?) refurbished. The inside is clean and well kept. The outside of the villa is so good looking that some tourists tried to enter the location thinking it's part of the visitable area of the castle. Outside business hours, you are basically alone in the castle's garden (that is, not counting the occasional bear who may come visit about 9PM or later, they seem to like dining very late this time of year).
There is a small kitchen in the villa but cooking is not really possible (unless you only need a microwave). That should be fine, since you have 2 restaurants very close in the yard (Nababu' for traditional Romanian food, decently priced - and the "fine dining-ish" and quite expensive Cantacuisine). The Nespresso machine with plenty of capsules will come very handy.
Sleep quality was a 7/10 the bed in the large bedroom was quite hard.
Breakfast is actually a max. 50 lei "voucher" for the Cantacuisine restaurant - meaning if more than 50 lei you have to pay the difference, if less than 50 lei ... you're good to go! Strongly recommended not to take the breakfast option and just order whatever you want to eat. The trouble with the restaurant is that it opens at 10:00 AM, in reality more like 10:30 AM so if you want to get up early and do some hiking better get your breakfast from...
