Great view, great potential for the slopes. Poor management, the slopes are not groomed to often, perhaps only when the ice becomes a hazard. We have been stopped at 10 and a half at the ski-lift by the mountain rescue guys, they closed the slopes for the snow groomer to fix the middle of the slope. We asked them why the guy's at the sky pass sold us the passes if the slopes were not opened, but no answer. Then at the top, the guy that was administrating the slopes blamed the snow grinder for breaking down. After asking him why did he lie in the Facebook posts about the slopes being opened, he told us that we should be grateful that he was taking care of the slopes for us. Also, mind the parking exit. You should have good winter tires, or chains to get out of there. Otherwise it will be pretty hard. Don't go unless you have no other alternative and you really...
Read moreGreat place to ski near Cluj-Napoca (1 hour drive). Conditions are good, and you have multiple slopes to choose from (Blue, Red, Black). Worth a visit even if you don’t ski because of the multiple bars/food vendors in the area. Prices are okay-ish, but tend to be higher near the slope than the deals you might find if you go to the food trucks near the parking lot. The ski-pass prices are a bit steep in my eyes, compared to other more popular ski resorts in Romania, like Straja, but the trade-off is that it is close to Cluj, so can’t complain too much about that. (25 lei for a ride with the chairlift in you are not skiing is a total rip-off though in my opinion) The thing I like the most is the large parking that can accomodate lots of visitors. Not even once did I have to stress about not finding a parking spot here, as opposed to other places like...
Read moreWe asked when the slope will be open, they said after New year. We went on the 5th and only 400m of slope was open and it was extremely crowded. As a beginner, it was very frustrating because the begining of the slope is very steep and the only part where one can practice is at the bottom. Which was obviously inaccessible. So I had to wait in the car half a day until my family had enough and we left. The road is difficult and narrow, at times you have to stop and let other cars pass cause two won't fit. No gravel on the road, it is made of dirt and if the car is a little lower than usual, better stay home. 4x4 is the only safe way to go. On our way back we found people who fell in the ditch with their car or they kept sliding and couldn't advance... All kinds of mishaps. So be prepared...
