“Piatra Teiului” Rock or Lime Stone is located at approximately 44 km north-west of Bicaz in the perimeter of Lake Izvorul Muntelui. This rock is a natural monument and the place where is located is also known as “Coada Lacului” (the end of the lake). The rock is 23m height and both because of its shape and its location is a well known tourist attraction in Neamt County.

The locals call it the Devil’s Rock and they also have a few legends associated with the formation of the rock. The most common one says that the rock is changing place each night and when the devil comes to sit atop of it, all the animals become silent and all the fires from all the surrounding houses go down. Legenda Pietrei Teiului din apropierea Mănăstirii Durău, din Munții Ceahlău, este una plină de mister și semnificație. În această poveste populară, diavolul joacă un rol central, iar Piatra Teiului capătă o semnificație aparte legată de lupta dintre bine și rău.

Legenda Pietrei Teiului Se spune că, într-o zi, diavolul a venit în aceste locuri cu gândul de a distruge tot ce era sacru și frumos. În drumul său prin munți, el a urcat pe vârful ce se află astăzi lângă Mănăstirea Durău, cu intenția de a arunca o stâncă mare asupra acesteia, pentru a nimici locul sacru și liniștea călugărilor.

Cu toate acestea, diavolul nu a reușit să controleze greutatea stâncii și, în momentul în care a vrut să o ridice pentru a o arunca, aceasta i-a scăpat din mâini și a căzut la vale, transformându-se într-o piatră uriașă care a rămas acolo pentru veșnicie. Din acel moment, stânca a început să se miște, urmând o cale nefirească, ca și cum ar fi fost condamnată să "plimbe" prin apă.

Astfel, se spune că Piatra Teiului s-ar mișca în fiecare noapte și ar ajunge, până la răsăritul soarelui, pe malurile apelor din apropiere, urmând o traiectorie blestemată, dar imposibil de oprit. Mișcarea sa continuă este o consecință a faptului că diavolul nu a reușit să o controleze și a lăsat-o într-o stare de nemișcare perpetuă.
