The Râmet Gorges are also home to a variety of plant and animal life, so keep an eye out for local flora and fauna.
If you're feeling adventurous, you can try your hand at rock climbing or rappelling in the gorges. The area is a popular spot for these activities, and there are several professional guides available to help you safely navigate the cliffs.
After a day of hiking or climbing, be sure to stop by one of the local restaurants or cafes to try some traditional Romanian cuisine. The Alba region is known for its delicious food, and you won't want to miss out on dishes like sarmale (stuffed cabbage rolls) and mici (grilled minced meat rolls).
Overall, the Râmet Gorges are a beautiful and exciting destination that should not be missed during a visit to the Alba region. Whether you're an experienced hiker or just looking for a scenic spot to relax, you'll find something to love about these...
Read moreGeoagiu "river" was really low in debit, so we did the tracking just simple walking in the valey of the river, in many places. It was possible due to the dry season. Perfect time to do the tracking is in summer (July, August) and during the week, avoinding the weekends, or the free national days. At the start of the canion, you can leave your car in a small parking, belonging to a local old man, who is charging you 10 lei (2 euros) for the entire day. The road from Alba Iulia to the canyon was just perfect, and it last aprox 45 minutes. You should consider around 3 to 4 hours to pass and to revert the canyon. We did it with our girls (12, 14 years old) in aprox 4 hours, but we did stop a lot of times to do perfect pictures 🙃 and we also decided to follow the suspended paths for all the zones when usual you have to escalade/climbe if the river would have been in normal or extra debit (so we didn't choose the easy way, through water, to speed up the adventure. When you pass the canyon, at it's end, you'll reach a small vilage Cheia, and you'll find a genuine local property of a relocated man (from Constanta, with his family) who can offer you fresh lemonade, beer, pepsi or coffee, for 15 lei (3 euros) each drink. You can also buy from him small souvenirs. He does not serve any food, so we recommend you to have some sandwiches or snacks.
Do we recommend you to go tracking the Râmeț...

This one was the most beautiful of them all, with Cheile Madei being a good second and Turzii a big disappointment after this one. This one is beautiful I would recommend it to every tourist on a warm summer day. If you come here with children and want to do the complete Cheile, I would advise it if they were 7-8 years or older. For some parts of the route, you need to be able to hold cables on the side of the water to continue, we went about halfway with 3 kids 2, 4 and 6 years and...
