Galcescu Lake — Attraction in Voineasa

One of the most beautiful high-altitude lakes in Romania, hands down. Pe drumul șerpuit din mijlocul Parângului, la prima curba mai serioasa după Pasul Urdele, venind dinspre Rânca, se găsește spectaculosul lac Gâlcescu, cel mai mare iezer glaciar din Părâng, de peste trei ha suprafața, ce este populat piscicol natural. Tot in acest lac își are obârșia si răul Lotru format din doua firicele de apa ce se unesc si apoi se prăvale peste pragul glaciar ascuns in întunecimea jnepenilor. Atât lacul Gâlcescu cat si altele mai mici sunt înconjurate de munți dispuși unii in spatele altora, Șureanu, Latorita, Lotru, Cindrel, Căpățânii, formând Circul sau Caldarea Galcescu. Lacul Gâlcescu este declarat monument al naturii, iar împrejurimile constituie o rezervație naturala geologică, floristica, peisagistica si chiar faunistica. Este un traseu nici foarte greu, dar nici ușor având in vedere ca trebuie urcate doua coaste mai anevoioase, iar coborârea pe Hornul Lacurilor necesita atenție.
