Transvâlcan — Attraction in Vulcan

Very nice drive up to the top where the road ends because Gorj County didn't build it on their part.

The view up there is amazing, you can sit and relax, there is a monument for world war one and a canon plus some trenches recreated. It's very nicely organized and it brings a touch of history to the place. I would add also some information for tourists to understand the historical importance of the road in the past...

Traseu frumos, iar la capătul asfaltului puteți vizita memorialul primului război mondial, care comemorează luptele duse acolo. De asemenea, puteți vizita în 30' vârful Tenia, 1671m. Din păcate drumul e îngust, astfel încât atunci când doua mașini se întâlnesc una trebuie sa dea înapoi până la o zonă care sa permită trecerea ambelor mașini. De asemenea, asfaltul se termina la.limita județului Gorj, în acest județ fiind un drum pietruit doar, asemănător unui drum forestier. Noi nu ne-am aventurat pe acest drum neasfaltat. Păcat, pt ca acesta a fost drumul folosit pana la primul război mondial pentru a trece din Transilvania în Oltenia, înainte de amenajarea...
