Review for mid August 2022: - cash payment only! - no selling of any beverages / sweeth or anything to eat. Bring your own food supplies and plenty of water! ! - no online tickets, no prior reservations. Access is first com first served! - beware: some waiting time before entrance is possible mainly during weekends and public holidays (Saturday 13:00 - waiting time was 90+ minutes). Good part is that waiting occurs in a shaded trail (no benches & few spots to rest on the ground) - you can rent gear to go on several zip lines descent (mainly 14+ years). Children zip lines are also available: close to the barrier on your left (follow signage) and another location with 4 zip lines at the middle of the hiking trail towards the canyon. The latter cannot be missed as you pass through it. If you struggled arriving at the tickets booth, I strongly recommend that you DO NOT climb the canyon. Afterwards the 7 Ladders Canyon climb, return towards "civilization" and tickets booth will require you to take an alternate marked path & involve some hill climbing and this will be the most intense part of your journey. A 4 year & 6 year old old have done it several times, just beware on your fit level. Afterwards the 7 Ladders Canyon climb you require approx 2h of walking before reaching the barrier/car parking! Staff is friendly, English speaking. Entrance for hiking trail inside the canyon is rather cheap :10 lei / adult (~2€), 5 lei / child. For children 4+ & under 8 years you can rent helmet & climbing harness so you can secure the child to the accompanying adult.! (an additional 5 lei), but you have to request it while purchasing tickets. Opposed to selling tickets booth there are some benches / tables where you can have a quick meal. There are trash cans. Be proactive & bring 1/2 garbage bags to gather your waste (including cigarette buds) and not "spoil" the environment as "savages" do! There is a large waste collection container just before the barrier dividing the parking are where you can drop off your wastes collected. As a bonus: if you read until here, do hit 👍

This place is located 20 km from Brasov. You will have to stop the car as close as possible the barrier that is forbidding you to drive more. The road is terrible for car so please allow patience. So once you left Brasov you go to Timisul de Sus, park the car as close as possible the hiking road and start walking to the canyon. There are 2 ways to reach your destination, one that goes straight to the canyon and the other that is leading you to a secondary attraction "Prapastia Ursilor" (the bears abyss). In both ways you will meet a forest and small water streams. The walking is going to take about 1 hour if you are not in rush, and if you are a fast walker you can do it in about 30 min. You will find on the way 2 cabin and a lot of post for rope sliding which you will have to pay for that. You will reach the destination and you will see a big giant spitted in 2. Your goal is to climb up to the giant by the hole between rocks. No worries, this place has a bit of antropic influences and you can do it by man made stairs as the name of the atraction canionul 7 scari (7 ladder canyon). Be sure that you have with you waterproof clothes because it is a small waterfall that is coming on the same rute that you are hiking and is going to make a wet environment at the beginning of cllimbing. Also very important is that if you are afraid of heights, you have to be very caution because the first ladders are very high to climb, about 10 meters and also they are wet from waterfall, so would be wise for you to take care of your safe. Once you are up it s a beautiful and peaceful place looking like a meadow of heaven. You are inside of a glade you have the trees that are perfectly covering the meadow making you a perfect path. It s going to take you about 20 minutes to go back on another walking rute. The place is awesome and unique and it s worth visiting it. Enjoy your travel 😉😎

A great place for an easy hike. In total it took us 3 hours and 30 minutes, from the beginning of the road (where we left the car) and back, with a few short stops on the way. When you get to the final cabana, where there are usually people gathered, you can buy tickets for the 7 Stairs Canyon, 10 lei for children and students and 20 lei for adults. As you imagine, there are 7 stairs to climb without a harness. They are all different sizes, but one is taller than the rest, and this one has a fall protection (like a metal grid). The view and the experience is gorgeous, I cannot explain it in words, you have to see for yourself :) The climb itself (on the 7 stairs is pretty easy and fast (in 10-15 minutes or so) and I saw children starting from 7-8 years old do it. I would personally not recommend this hike for kids younger than 7 years old. When you reach the top of the stairs, you have 3 options. 1) One is to return via a d tour around the canyon which takes at most 30 min 2) To continue the hike to Prapastia Ursilor (Abyss of Bears) which takes about two more hours 3) To continue the hike to Piatra Mare (The Big Rock) which takes about two more hours - it is a hard hike especially in the winter. Whichever you choose, to get down you can use the Ziplines for 120 lei to the beginning of the road (where your car is) or Ziplines for 70 lei to some part of the hike (you can see more info on the photos I attached). Or there is the option to go with your own two feet to the beginning of the road, like you started. We choose the option to go with our own two feet from the beginning to the end, choosing option 2) to return via d tour - resulting in 3h and 30 minutes. I hope this helps :)

I'm just gonna write something useful for anyone who wants to take a trip: - road is easy but very crowded during weekends at any hour so get used to staying in traffic, recommend a motorcycle. DN1 is usually full in different parts of the road. - if you decide on weekend trip make sure you're there at the first hour of opening, there are a LOT of people who go there so you'll be spending from 30 - 60 minutes just to wait for a person who is afraid of heights to climb the stairs. A long line will form. - DO NOT drink the water that's flowing before the climb, people stomp on the river from above, throw cigarettes and other garbage in it, recommend drinking the one after you climb, refreshing and safe to drink. - watch your step and do not rush, there are no safety features and if you slip and fall because of the wet ladder, well, it's your fault not theirs. Road back is HELL so my recommendation is go with a motorcycle OR go during the week, NOT the weekend. - get BOOTS not snickers because you WILL have to cross the river a few times and there are only a few rocks or logs on which you will have to practice your balancing skills. - It's an easy climb filled with fresh air, takes you about 45 - 50 minutes to get to the stairs, then about 30 - 40 minutes to go around the mountain and climb down, then another 20 - 30 minutes to get back to your car, if you want the shortest trip. - Do NOT try to park as close as you can to beginning of the climb after 10 AM. You won't have any place to do so. Hope this will help you, keep safe and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Very scenic and atmosphere rich location. Be prepared for a ~45 minute hike from parking to canyon entrance. (Yellow trail mark - mostly you will be walking next to a river) You buy tickets right before entrance and then just follow the path through ladders. After ladders are done you should follow yellow trail marks until you end up on a specially marked crossroad (information signs will be provided there) where there is option to continue trail into mountains or descend back to the start. Going down is a different route (marked with red trail mark). This is because canyon ladder trail is one way only. By following the red trail marks you will eventually get back to the point where you bought tickets. There is option to buy equipment and use it to go down by zip lines, but I would not actually recommend it since it won’t be much faster due to count of spots where you detach and attach to other zip lines. It’s worth only if you never experienced it or you are with your kids. Overall - I recommend visiting this attraction to everyone who feels physically enough strong to do 1.5h uphill hike and able to climb ladders. Those who are afraid of heights - think twice, as some ladders are quite tall.

Gorgeous place, took barely 30 minutes by bus from Brasov's Livada Postei (bus no. 17, then switch to 17b at the Metro stop and disembark at Dambul Morii). I went on a sunny day in the beginning of October, the temperature was pleasant enough to spend most of the day in short sleeves. The canyon itself is a few degrees chillier, but a hoodie or light jacket should do the trick. The hike to the canyon is very scenic and not too demanding (recommend taking the paths through the trees rather then by the stream, more fun). The ladders were fun, not terribly tall or even slippery, but do wear proper shoes. There were plenty of visitors as it was the weekend, but the place was by no means crowded - everyone had heaps of time to enjoy the canyon and take pictures. Definitely don't miss on riding the zipline down, it's extremely long and well worth the 100 lei. 10/10, would definitely visit again and again.

The Seven Ladders Canyon is a mountainous canyon carved by the Șapte Scări Brook in Romania in the county of Brașov, south of Dâmbul Morii village. It is considered to be one of the main tourist attractions from the Piatra Mare massif.
