Lakhta Center
Lakhta Center (Russian: Ла́хта це́нтр) is a large mixed-use non-residential construction project in Saint Petersburg, in Russia, designed by British architect Tony Kettle and detailed by Russian design company Gorproject. When the project was still planned for its original site at Okhta closer to the historical centre of St. Petersburg, it was first called Gazprom City (Russian: Газпро́м си́ти) and later Okhta Center (Russian: О́хта це́нтр). In 2010 the project was suspended at its Okhta site due to official objections of UNESCO World Heritage Committee, and in the beginning of 2011 it was relocated to Lakhta area in the outskirts (9 km from historical centre)

The Lakhta Center, a scientific and educational complex, with sports and leisure facilities, and an outdoor amphitheater is planned to include the first supertall skyscraper in the city .1] The 462-metre[2]skyscraper of the Lakhta Center, upon its planned completion in 2018,[3] is expected to be the tallest building in Russia and Europeand the second tallest structure in Europe after the 540,1-metre high Ostankino Tower.[4]
The concrete pouring of the bottom slab of the box-shaped foundation ended March 1, 2015, was registered by Guinness World Records as the largest continuous concrete pour. 19,624 cubic metres of concrete was used which is approximately 3,000 cubic meters more than in the previous similar record registered at Wilshire Grand Tower.[5]

The geometry of the buildings are not straightforward rather complicated, twisted in a ligicsl way. The architects, engineers were struggling to find and kill dead spaces, trying to find the ideal solution to meet notorious client wishes. The client, Gazprom Neft was a group of professionals who are Architects, engineers as well and always gave high pressures, asking huge tasks in a very tight programme. However, it also had become exciting memory to recall during the construction of giant skyscraper with intelligent colleagues. Apart from the design and construction of huge buildings, Living in a great city like st. Petersburg was also invaluable experience in my life as well. It was first time ever to live in a Russian city but lucky enough to have a chance to reside in the old capital of great Russia. Surrounded by monumental architecture and man-made landscapes like parks, canals square made me love, admire the city a lot. I still have full of joyful memories and curiosity abouth every corner of this Russian city. Exciting night life during the famous White night, full of local cuisine, bars made me always wondering around the every small corner to find intersting spots.
