Kayaking on the Lena River and its delta region in general is gorgeous, be sure to stash your ride higher than the water debris line in trees or you will lose it if it floods. I am happy that I went with an inflatable and packable kayak here, very easy to stash and go exploring without worries of discovery. This river and its rock formations are beautiful. It can get cold here quickly towards the end of summer, so pack accordingly. It is easy to avoid people everywhere but on the main Lena River. Everywhere else, the tourists and cruise lines do not go. Helicopters fly everywhere, though and it is very easy to be spotted by air. Locals, if you come across them, are cautious but become very friendly and helpful with a little tipping to keep it quiet and “Sekret mezhdu nami”. Food sources are scarce, water is good.
