Well, we all know the prices in Rwanda are high. If you don't manage a good deal for transportation it's really overpriced to hike a volcano. We were 10 with 1 guide. The guide was hiking at a really good pace, and I could follow up, but my friend was behind and no one cared that a few of them did not have anybody who allowed them time to rest in between some meters up. The scenery is beautiful, and it was price wise, one of the only cool options to see the national park without ruining myself. I think, that considering they force you to go with a guide, that at least we could get information about plant variety and park info. It's not just a physical challenge, we come to discover the area and it seems the minimum to me that the guide speaks about these things. I am in decent shape and was still sour 3 days after!! One of the toughest day hikes you can do in Africa, must be in good condition and free of cardiopulmonary issues. The guides are helpful though and help you push through by physical and verbal aid.
