Ôbo National Park — Attraction in Santa Catarina

Entered via the botanical garden. No need for a guide! You need to sign this book and can give a donation for the NP. I took trail 00 to Lagoa Ameliá it is not hard at all, last 30min a bit of a climb but not as hard. Last 5min down especially when it is raining really slippery. The atmosphere is mystical I loved it. The trail 00 is well marked as well. I decided to take trail 01 (Camino to refugino) back. Just on top before you go down to the lago is the trail to the right. I tell you definitely not easy. It was super rainy and the trail goes up and down. Down like 180°.. It was like a slide. Also it is not on any map which I normally use for hiking (maps.me or alltrails). The trail is still marked but only after every 15-20min. At the end it got tricky as they were different ways and not marked. But follow the feelings to get back to the botanical garden was fine. It took me about 2.5h back but as said with some wrong turns and keeping alll the trees as safety as it was super slippery. Be ready for that. The park itself is immense and somewhat at the center of the island. It has a botanical garden with a lot of plants species and more. The staff and guards are really friendly and nice. They really know their thing. The jungle is extremely beautiful. However, we just wanted to warn everyone, that climbing the highest mountain in the park, Pico de São Tomé, is extremely DANGEROUS UNDER WET CONDITIONS. The hike is very long and strenuous, and you have to keep a steady pace to make it in 2 days. It was praised as the ultimate jungle experience.
