Best of the Best place on the whole Earth

According to Mythology, Which is mentioned in Markandeyapurana preached by the Pundits, Sri Mahavishnu wished to ramble with Sri Maha Lakshmi in Bhooloka [on the Earth]. He asked his wreath to change into a hillock. Then, it changed in the form of a garland at this place. Since then, it is called as Malyadri [Mala + Adri]. ‘Mala’ means garland. ‘Adri’ means hill. The hill itself is in the shape of a Mala [garland]. Different kinds of trees, birds, animals are seen on this hillock. There are different shapes of stones on it. Agastya Maharshi meditated on this hill for several years.

Swamy was pleased for his dhyana and appeared in front of him in the form of a bright sparkling red light like Jwala by spreading over the sky and blessed him. Due to this, here, Mahavishnu is called as Jwala Narasimha Swamy.

Another wonder on this hill is that there is a way with carved steps in the middle of a big stone. One day Sri Mahavishnu went to the forest for hunting. There he met a Chenchu tribe lady whom he loved very much and married her. Sri Mahalakshmi came to know this and she got angry on Sri Mahavishnu on this trivial issue and looked fiercely at a big stone which is in front of her on the hill. Due to her fierce looking, the stone was divided into two parts by giving a way to her. Sri Mahalakshmi went on to the top of the hill through this way and settled there. One can experience while going in this way to pray Sri Mahalakshmi. Every devotee, from a very lean person to a very stout person, feels that a little bit fatter than him/her couldn’t go in that very narrow way. But, it is a very wonderful experience to every devotee that though he/she is very stout, he/she moves here comfortably and visits the Goddess for her blessings.

Lord Siva was installed in a very spacious cave which is Formed under the same stone of this hill. Every devotee will have a Philosophical thought that Siva and Kesava are one. Under this Siva cave, Goddess Parvathi temple is located. Even in this 21st century also, the devotees believe that Munis are in deep dhyana [meditation] in this holy hill shrine. But, they are not visible to the ordinary human beings. The best proof for this is that Sri Dattatreya, who was in deep dhyana for ten (10) years

in this hill shrine had darshan of all Goddesses and became Maharshi. The place where he was blessed is known as Dattatreya Mandir in the village of Mogilicherla in the year 1976.

Importance of this Kshetra

The devotees from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have a strong feeling that the couples who had no children will be blessed with children after performing pujas in this temple. They believe that Jyeshta Masam [May, June months] are very important for the childless couples to perform pujas. Those who visited for three (3) Saturdays in this month and offered rice flour mixed with sugar and ghee [Pindi Deeparadhana] to Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy with so much devotion will be blessed surely with children. There are so many holy bath cerntres [teerthas] here. Some of them are (1) Nrusimha Teertha (2) Varuna Teertha (3) Kapila Teertha (4) Agasthya Teertha (5) Sankara Teertha (6) Jyothi Teertha and (7) Indra Teertha. These seven teerthas are named after Saptharshis’ [Seven Rishis] names.
