I read a lot of the reviews here before checking out Reduit and I think many of them miss the point a bit. There is a lot of negative focus on the local guys (and women) who work at the beach to make their living either renting sun beds which I would say are essential in 30 degrees C Caribbean heat (you can have one for 20-25 usd depending on position) or selling delicious fresh coconut water which is chopped and served to you in the husk, or food vendors like Liz who sells the most delicious home made Rotis (Indian style bread filled with potato and veg or meat). There are also people selling ice cold beers and soft drinks for less than $4 a beer who will be more than happy to wait on you as you lounge in the sun with the clear blue ocean lapping at your feet. Yes you will be greeted in the car park by people offering their services but no one ever hassled us and most of them would actually just be happy with a ‘no thanks’ and also like most people on the island a little bit of small talk or just some pleasantries. This is one of the best urban beaches I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to a lot. It has everything and also a great beach front restaurant in Spinnakers which puts you on the beach for cocktails and great food. Don’t listen to the scared tourists and embrace Rodney bay with an open heart, it will...
Read moreI give this beach 4 stars✨. The beach is beautiful I would go as far to say heavenly. There's an excellent bar at the beach called Spinnakers: the service there is excellent and there's free WiFi if you buy a drink. The sea always seems to be mild on this side of the island with lite warm winds. There's even a police station vertually on the sand, its very close by in the free car park area. So why not five stars ✨you may ask. The local hecklers know most of the visitors will make their way to this beach. They can spot you off a mile away no matter who you are. OMG " Come buy the best rum on the island, or come rent my jet ski, or buy my cakes, coconuts and many more. One after the other they come. If you think you are safe in the water, Nope, men in little boats selling drink and other island goodie are out there to. On the whole I do recommend going there but some hecklers can be rude and aggressive in speech. However some accept the no sale and move on politely. You might even want to...

There's restaurants by the beach, garbage bins, and chairs/umbrellas for rent (we paid EC$30 for the 2 chairs plus umbrella for the whole day) Take your time deciding from whom you'd like to rent them. We got harassed as we walked in, and thankfully we took the time to walk south of the beach and found a pretty private spot to spend the day at.
If you've heard vendors on the beach can be a hassle, it turned out very true for us. Noticeably more vendors hassling than in the rest of the island. We avoided most of them with a clear and sharp "thank you, but we're not interested!"
The beach is incredible! Not a lot of places to snorkel; the pristine waters are incredible, and beach was so quiet that hearing a wave splash was rare. I particularly liked it more towards the end of the day, that waters where so calm.
Highly recommended, but be ready to...
