It was lovely, but I prefer St. Vincent; the people in St. Vincent are more honest and not as greedy.

Travel with EC local dollars because we were ripped off here by a taxi driver (paying in US); also, a restaurant owner and the vendor selling shirts and wraps tried to do the same. We didn't make a fuss because we figured they needed it more than us, but it wasn't nice...especially since we are usually generous tippers whether or not typing is required/desired. I'm sure not all ppl are probably like this, but we seemed to have gotten them all. We did have a good, friendly, honest team at the Plantation Hotel Restaurant.

The beaches in Bequia are nicer and waters...

A really great island to visit by cruising boat. It's also a customs check in for the grenadines. Good vitualling for yachts, especially Doris's store. Good hikes to Mount Peggy, where Peggy 100's of years ago used to spot fish shoals for the fisherman. The island also has a whaling quota of 4 whales a year. Lots to explore, very good restaurants (Mac's was great) coastal board walk...

St Vincent is a beautiful country but extremely over priced. Out of all the Caribbean islands visited St Vincent was the most expensive. Even the duty-free free area was over priced. A simple fridge magnet was double the price of other islands and this is just one of many over pricing incidents. To be honest, even though the island is beautiful, this has put me off from visiting again.

If you haven't been to this island then you haven't seen seclusion at work. The office is the first thing you come across as you get off the ferry. Definitely stop in and say hi, then go across the street and get some fresh baked bread. From there it's total relaxation.
