We loved this place. Deffo bring a lunch and water bc there isn’t a store near by. We stayed here all day. From low tide to high. At low tide we swam out and around Vavau beach. If you swim out where the rope is and go left. Follow along the rocks you will come across a nice cave. At low tide it’s low risk to go in we found in August.
At high tide you need to be a little more aware of currents. If you are not a good swimmer don’t go deeper then your knees . The right side without ropes at high tide should not be swam in. Unless you are a local and know...

Yes, the current is strong, especially towards peak tide changes, but you can easily bathe where you can reach - we had 3 kids with us, 2 were 4 yo and had absolutely no problem, by just being sensible. Obviously don't venture out of the cove! The water is one of the most transparent I've seen - and that's a fairly big and varied sample size :-) Make sure you don't get thrown off by the unsealed steep short driveway to get there, and you'll see one of the nicest beach angles...
